So fairly simple question Who is your Favourite video game hero and villain please explain why and which game they are from cause some characters may appear in more than one game and may be drastically different in each one.

My favourite hero would have to be Commander Shepard due to the fact that he is constantly saving the universe and yet still has time to chat up the ladies.Oh and nobody has a better theme tune than after Miracle of Sound's masterpiece.

My Favourite villain has got to be the Joker in Batman Arkham Asylum because he is deliciously insane which just makes the game so much more interesting and the voice acting from Mark Hamill is perfect.

AM from I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream was terrifying. Best villain I've seen in a game.

EDIT: Hero? I'll go with Batman for pre-defined and the protagonist from P4 for "blank slate".

I enjoy Minato Arisato (nameless protagonist of the persona 3 games), just cause of his story. There's a lot of romanticism in it.

Villian.. I dont know. Maybe Gary oak, cause he's gary (motherfuckin) oak.

On a more serious note for the villain, I wouldnt know. Every villain was easy to beat, and obviously weak to something htat only the hero could fix, so I would say NYX or Erebrus, or Izanami, because tehy never truly die, and are god like figures that you cant hope to stop and will eventually lose to.

My Favorite hero is Jak from Jak and Daxter series. He was just awesome in every way, he went from the silent type to being completely insane, in an awesome way.

My Favorite villain is Alma from F.E.A.R. because she is crazy and psychic and crazy.

~Tales of Symphonia Spoiler Alert~

My favorite villain is probably Tales of Symphonia's Yggdrasil, a 'fallen' hero whose motivations stem from his desire to reunite with his dead sister and fulfill her wish for a world without discrimination. Yes, he commits atrocities throughout the game which truly test a player's sympathy, but he does it all because he honestly believes it will make the world(s) a better place. There are points in the game that he even questions if he is doing the right thing, thinking himself a monster for the things he has done. To me he is a villain who never truly becomes a villain.

Hm, there are a lot, but I definitely want to mention Chell and GLaDOS. A silent protagonist is almost as good as a hilariously over-talkative antagonist.

I'v always been a Final Fantasy fan so my favorite hero would have to be Cecil from FFIV. I enjoy his story of tragedy and redemption, just angsty enough to make you care but not overbearingly so.
As for my favorite villan I would have to say Frank Fontaine from Bioshock. Not particularly because of him but because of the way the game worked him in. I can normally guess what's going to happen in a game but Atlus being Fontaione came totally out of left field, not to mention he was a good villan too.

This is going to be sitting in the reply box for a while...

Thinking. . .

Favourite Villain: I'll go with Arthas Menethil. I'm a sucker for the good-turned-evil ones. All he wanted to do was save his people but from the moment he picked up Frostmourne it was downhill all the way. Starting with those poor unsuspecting mercs.

Honourable mention goes to Benny from Fallout: New Vegas. He's such a slippery bastard of a man, but I've never cared enough to find another perspective. I had him crucified and then hacked him to bits with an axe as he hung there.

Favourite Hero: It's hard to say who my favourite hero is really, since a fair few of the recent games I've played have the player be the nameless/mute hero. What the hell, I'll say Abe. He's a bit dim and he has awful gas but he tries his best to save his buddies from being turned into tasty treats. And Shrykull kicks serious arse.
