Hero: Alexander(FF9)
He got the best FMV for a summoned creature in any FF game. Alexander's FMV, obvious spoilers [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsYpasHUVc8&feature=related]

Villain: Kuja(FF9)
He's just evil. Sure, his backstory is nothing new, but he makes a mother nearly kill her own daughter, creates an army of slaves and corrupts Bahamut to kill the person that summoned him.(her?) He's also the best dressed FF villain you'll ever see [http://www.ffcompendium.com/chara/9kuja-s.jpg]

Wow, this thread isn't offtopic.

That said, the Paladin from D2 is my favorite hero.
My favorite villain might have to be Xan Kreigor right now since I can't think of anything else.

Hero: Raz. Although he's more of just a protagonist. Hero's don't smash towns as giant monsters.
Villain: Ganon (he's the best I can think of right now)

Face: Rocket Grunt, Pokemon R/B/Y

LOL!

But yeah,
James Bond in 007: Nightfire. His confidence borders on lunacy in every cut scene.

King K.Rool Donkey Kong 64. Mostly because he made me laugh.

Villain: I'm gonna say the hunter from half life 2, cuz they are so hard to beat, but so fun to fight

Haha gordon freeman... muradin... nice. For villains, Arthas too?
I skipped arthas because he's basically Elric of Melnibon [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elric_of_Melnibon] with almost NO change to the basic plot (hero uses sword for good, then it steals his soul.)

I find many Villains to be... inadequate. No villain I find is ever complex enough to intrigue me. Most villains out there are simply evil... 'just because'. Either that or they are whiny and heartbroken so they destroy the world... bloody emo. A lot of heroes are like that as well.

But I will say Kain and Raziel from Legacy of Kain were exceptionally deep characters.

Travis Touchdown as my unlikable bastard of a hero

I do consider Mithos from Tales of Symphonia a tragic hero

Yeager from Tales of Vesperia for his awesome voice. He is beaten out by Kefka who is pure crazy.

Honorable metion goes to the boss from Lungfishopolisin psyhconauts, his attack names are hilarous

Favourite Hero(es)

- Sgt. Cortez (Time Splitters: Future Perfect). He is a sardonic asshole, he makes terrible jokes, and all of his female counterparts are gorgeous....what's not to love?! Plus, he gets major points for being his own supporting cast member.

- Link. He doesn't spout off any annoying catchphrases (I don't consider YAH! to be a catchphrase). He doesn't ever complain about rescuing the princess. And he's never been in a bad game (disregarding those CD-i travesties, which don't really count).

- Guybrush Threepwood. All I need to say is insult sword-fighting.

Favourite Villain(s)

- RAAM (Gears 1). Unlike Scourge (who was horribly wasted in Gears 2), RAAM was actually an interesting character, and a hard boss fight.

- Sephiroth.....just kidding.

- Lord Bale (Dawn of War). SINDRIIIIIII!

Mother Brain and Dark Force from Phantasy Star 2 stick out for me. I suppose DF wasn't much of a villain per se as you never saw him until the very end, but he definitely deserves to be in the top 10 list of "hardest boss fights." Mother Brain was a typical example of the "Make a 'Utopian Society' but at what cost?" villain, which may sound common now but wasn't back in videogames in 1989. Of course there was something ELSE driving Mother Brain to do these things, but for spoilers sake I'll withhold that.
