The ending and Destroyman cutscenes in No More Heroes

The revelation in KotoR

Last boss fight in Star Fox: Adventures (both the fight itself as well as the deliciously cheesy plot turns and one liners ^^)

Riding into Mexico in Red Dead Redemption

The first bossfight in Super Mario Galaxy (the one with the giant three legged machine on the tiny moon)

I always go into MAXIMUM RAGE mode when Garrus goes down in his recruitment mission. I hate that Blue Suns asshole more than the reapers I think

The solo ending of VtM:B is also pretty epic

I would agree if it weren't for all the terrible gameplay that the game devolves into in the final portion.

Made a character focusing on social skills, which was viable for the rest of the game? Well fuck you! Enjoy your repeating death! Did you like the RPG we made, with lots of interesting conversations and non-combat options? Well fuck you! Have endless waves of enemies to fight!

The most recent awesome gaming moment I had was the rock concert battle in Alan Wake. Speaking of which, Alan Wake has an amazing soundtrack overall, but that concert battle was just icing on the cake.

More Mainstream but:

Split Second: Velocity - was trying the demo first time. Was tired, wasn't really expecting much.
Then the plane fell from the sky. Remembered my mouth being open and going 'OMFG' and trying to dodge it.

I can see where you're coming from, and I've had this conversation before. But Bishop Vick or the sewers aren't exactly subtle hints to toughen up, and 95% of the endgame minions are squishy bloodbags and totally stealthable. I do see your point though

The Bioshock opening is brilliant and it's always fun to sit down with someone who is playing it for the first time and see how long they float around in the water before they realise the game has started and they're in control.

Sticking out in my mind as I read this thread is the mirror wall moment in Silent Hill 3, hopefully those who've played it know what I'm talking about. That really freaked me out and for me was probably the best moment in what was easily the least scary of the Silent Hill series when it first came out. I'm not up to date with the series so all I really know about the newer ones is how much Yahtzee complains about them.

The problem is that it's just too much linear combat for a game that, up until that point, had a wide variety of missions. It's really irritating because the reason I'm enjoying the games so much isn't because of the combat and to be forced into that for the ending makes me think less of the game.

This seems to happen often in games. Fallout: New Vegas and Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl suffered with the same problem.

At the risk of souding redundant: BioShock's twist. I just got to it again yesterday and I felt like the world had tipped sideways.

I also really love the last 6 'hours' before the moon crashes in Majora's Mask. I still get this surreal feeling of "oh shit the world's about to end. Huh."

Jumping onto a speeding train in Mirror's Edge was pretty awesome. Single moment, but it definitely had me wowing out loud.
