Probably the most awesomest gun ever made for gaming.

The BFG 9000. Anyone who's played DOOM will know of it's capabilities.

Every R.Y.N.O weapon in the Ratchet & Clack series.
So over-powered and over-priced

Harpoon gun Crackdown. Funniest and glitchiest weapon in the game. Also it can make bodies just float in a infinite straight line. ahhh.. we followed that body for ever in the helicopter.

Laser shotgun in Fallout 3
There was a laser shotgun?!?! How did I miss that??

Hmmm, I'd probably have to say a Barrett 50 Cal from MW2 with Extended Mags and Silencer. I like to keep it simple.

Don't suppose you mean the Barnacle Gun?

Most awesome weapon... Well i'm always a sucker for a good Assault Rifle. My vote goes for the Tek Bow in the Turok games. The original ones. Why? Because taking down dinosaurs and soldiers with a bow and (explosive) arrow is HARDCORE.

SHOTGUNS! (particularly the double-barreled variety)

In Serious Sam: "Double your gun, double your fun!"

In Quake 2: Point blank with the Super Shotgun did as much damage as a direct hit from a rocket (Maybe more). You could kill any enemy in the game with that gun.

In Mass Effect: First play-through I rolled a Vanguard. My shotgun kicked EVERYONE's ass!

Devil May Cry: No better gun for crowd control, and if you were good you could kill some enemies with one shot.

Yes, nothing quite beats a good shotgun for shooty mayhem.

EDIT: Unreal Tournament: Instead of a boring traditional shotgun, we got to play with it's big brother, the Flak Cannon. I have many a fond memory of filling narrow corridors with torrents of white-hot shrapnel.

There isn't one, he's probably referring to the tri-beam laser rifle?

Fell in love with Lincoln's Repeater in Fallout3 when I took the sniper in Minefield's head off from so far away I could barely see him.

Doom's BFG was the most Overpowered weapon in a game.

Anything either in the blast radius of the projectile, or in line of sight of the PERSON WHO FIRED IT when the projectile detonates is pretty much dead.

Other players aren't an exception, even though certain boss characters were.

Quake 3's double-barrelled laser-sighted shotgun was more epic though. Mainly because they thought a laser sight was a sensible idea on the worst long-range weapon in the game. And didn't put one on the sniper rifle.

Seriously though....

Single Player:

Rail Driver. Red Faction: Guerrilla. Second place goes to Singularity Bombs.

Multiplayer:

Scatter Blaster. Transformers: War for Cybertron.

LARP:

Naginata. A longsword (I have a Katana) or pair of shortswords (Scimitars) are acceptable substitutes where necessary.

Re-enactment fighting:

Shortsword and Kite Shield. Most people I know would prefer a round shield when fighting on foot - I'd actually prefer a smaller rectangular shield with a strap and arm grip, but the only rectangular shields I've been able to use were Tower Shields without straps, and they're only really practical in formation. Kite Shields give better protection than round shields the way I fight. I'd pick the Tower Shield if I was in a group and we were able to organise ourselves though.
