What depresses me about Alan Moore these days is he seems less and less interested with giving us a good story and is considerably more focused on heaping the weird, wacky, obscure and sex filled on us than actually telling an interesting yarn.

Why do people knock Lovecraft as a writer? "Oh he always says the horrors cant be described" well they can't, thats the point. Not lazy writing but a rather interesting take on the idea that horror is only as good as you see the monster.

So Lovecraft, Robert E HOWard, Michael Moorcock, James herbert, Shaun Hutson, Robert Rankin, Robert anton Wilson, Jim Butcher one of the greatest pulp writers of today, absolutely superb.

William Hope Hodgson, Thomas mallory, Poe, Cervantes, James Joyce, Kim Newman aka Jack Jeoville.

And many more, do I look pretentious again?

Sometimes you just want chocolate. Sometimes you just want ice cream. But ice cream with chocolate sauce or chunks of chocolate in it is a truly wondrous thing.

So it is with great stories and high weirdness. This is why I love Alan Moore.

Stephen King. Good books, messed up guy, but good books
Shakespear. Do I need a reason?
S.D. Perry. Guy re-writes the Resident Evil games into books and makes em pretty good.
