Shouldn't the FBI be tracking down actual criminals? These are just people with too much time on their hands, with a slightly illegal way of purveying their message. I honestly see not too much wrong with that (until they start causing actual problems).
Yes, because we're going to have people crowd other cases to specifically avoid a group of what's essentially cyber-terrorists. Like it or not, Anonymous' mischief causes serious harm to companies and (more importantly) people who would like to access the services they enjoy. I'm pretty sure that this kind of thing wouldn't be better for its resources spent on looking for bigger criminals, because such efforts would probably be redundant (which is likely why they decided to do this operation in the first place.)

Does no-one actually realize how easy it is to visit 4chan and post replies or threads?

Why do you think there are so many facebooky newfags?

So, has anyone of the people who attacked WikiLeaks with DDoS attacks been arrested? I guess not, huh?

Good grief!!

By the end of this whole affair, I'll be surprised if anon isn't declared a terrorist organization. This is ridiculous! They're wasting government resources trying to track them down, anyway; unless Wikileaks posts the name, address, and IP listing of every anon member, they ain't gonna bring them down.

40 is still too low as a number....~

although it got a lot more hardcore compared to 5.
I wonder what they're up to, or better, in what extend theyre willing to take actions.
Well they were all just the ones who were stupid enough not to mask their IP's. That they found 40 Americans stupid enough not to mask their IP's isn't suprising is clearly an indicator that many more were involved...

As I said on the other story, for the actual damage caused (minute), these "hackers" aren't likely to even be sentenced with anything worth the expenditure it took to track them down in the first place. If they "make examples" of these kids, and they will, you can guarantee justice will not be served. If the FBI takes out their frustration of not being able to personally jail Julian Assange on these kids you can sure as hell expect some heavy cyberwarfare action directed at them. Anonymous won't take it lightly...

There's no such thing as an "anonymous member". They aren't some underground organisation or anything. Someone has posted on /b/ telling everyone to download lioc and ddos those websites and they did so. The people who did that just happened to be online at that particular time and thought it would be a laugh to join in. You can't just fucking arrest people like that and expect the problem to go away. This sort of thing cannot be control and the fact that an organisation like the FBI has even bothered to do so just underlines how out of fucking touch they are. People are out there killing and raping and they want to go after 14 year olds who browse the internet?

Har har, rather clever. I should've worded it better. Yes, it's nice that they're finally showing Anonymous how "Anonymous" they are, but isn't the FBI for like, bank robbers, serial kills, terrorists and the like? It seems, at least to me, to be a waste of effort to use the FBI just to arrest some dickhead teenagers who have nothing better to do than to "Haxor" webpages by clicking an .exe.

If anything, why not go after those who post child pornography or someone's personal information? Why DDoSing of all things?
And as I explained above, it's not that I condone DDoSing or support anonymous or anything like that, far from it. But to me, using the FBI and "Many international law enforcement agencies" simply to bring down a bunch of kids is like using the Army, tanks and all, to stop a riot.
Unfortunately as not many have actually gotten in trouble for this but many have participated these "kids" seem to think they should do it and they can get away with it. As I said in my other posts they made it extremely public, commited felonies, DDOS'd well known sites and government sites. It was going to happen sooner or later where they crack down on it to show that they will and can go to jail for this. The FBI is for felonies, and most likely didn't require many resources comparatively. They can also argue that these attacks are a form of cyber-terrorism.

Okay first off: Why the FBI, because the FBI has the resources to actually do the investigating necessary to find these folks, most police forces in America don't. Plus they are multi jurisdictional, meaning they can wander about the USA without getting up other LEA's noses much.

Second: why this instead of other more high profile crimes? Because there is a department of the FBI dedicated to actually investigating stuff like this. If they aren't investigating these sorts of crimes then all they'd be doing is sitting on their arses swivelling their chairs about. For them not to be investigating is a waste of resources, when they're doing their jobs it's not.

What seems a bit odd to me is that they are going after a few people who tried a DDoS attack, as opposed to...I don't know... the people who are posting child pornography? The DDoS hardly did anything, and there are much better things to be hunted on 4chan. It kinda urks me that the only way to get the goverments attention is to do something that directly pisses it off. Child porn? Meh. IRL trolling to a dangerous point? Who cares. People use a crappy program to mess with some people against Wikileaks? Oh shi- get the FBI on this guise.

This is getting juicy. If this doesnt end up with shitstorm, then I have officially lost all my hope with humanity.

All those kids parents must be confused by this, why the fuck is FBI arresting their lil' children.

I think the FBI are only doing this because of how many times Anonymous have insulted them, not because of any actual crimes worthy of arrest.
Definitely not worth the resources to go after a bunch of 13 year olds who googled 'how to DDoS'.

The anonymous members dun goofed. It looks like the FBI...backtraced it. I guess they now know not to mess with the cyber police.
It's poetic justice!
