Wow... so you pasteurise the raw milk, there by defeating the purpose of having raw milk in the first place and then pretend it tastes different from regular milk.

Mind you am in the UK here where milk was only pasteurised, not homogenised when I was a kid (the cream would float to the top of the whole milk)
You've never tasted nor had American 'milk'. Its water with color. The fact that I pasteurize it myself has nothing to do with allowing me or not, to buy it raw. The FDA at one point, or some such, sought to prevent me from doing even that much.

I've drank raw milk (partly growing up on a farm will do that) and, to be honest, I prefer the flavor after boiling.

I don't really think that kind of thing is within the intended scope of the FDA's duties.
They can easily 'warn' people from taking excessive medication, which they do but in a whisper whisper sort of way that flies over the heads of most people. They need to be as proactive about it as they are about raw milk purchases and the other nonsense they go on about. However, we wouldn't want big pharma to get upset that the FDA suddenly told people to stop taking unnecessary medication for everything.

I also don't think it's fair to blame people for seeking relief. Most over the counter medicines aren't disease fighters, they treat symptoms. A few doses of guiafenesin can provide substantial relief from congestion-related coughing (which in my case at least, is usually the main thing that makes me feel horrible when I'm sick, so you're damn right I'm gonna take it). A couple of aspirin for a headache is nothing bad either.
The thing is, I never understood why I see so many of such problems here in the US. Was I never paying attention at home, or am I just biased? People would have problems, sure, but they had/have non-medicine solutions to their problems: sore throat? Honey and tea. Congestion? Mint tea or something spicy/vodka. It goes on and on. Certainly, this is a byproduct of the fact that no one at home can afford buying over the counter medication, and for the most part they deal with and become tolerant to many of their symptoms, unless severe, and treat them in passive ways.

I feel that in seeking relief the way that its done, and effectively endorsed, here in the USA cause addictive properties to develop in the bodies of the people taking these medications, symptom treating or otherwise. Your body will get used to having its problems sorted out for it by foreign agents, making you all the weaker the next, and then the next, and so on. Much of it is on the mental level, where you become so accustomed to being at ease that any problem immediately causes alarms for you.

This, of course, doesn't even touch up on the problem of antibiotics and other medications taken incorrectly, too often and in ineffective ways, and so on, that is rampant in the USA/world wide. Super germs, go go.

There are also plenty of people for whom "a day of rest" is not an option. So pop some pills to make you functional, and get back to work so you can pay your bills. The show must go on. If I had a penny for every time an American did that, I'd be loaded...with pennies.
