i never played fear 1 but people said it was good, so using my naive optimism i eagerly waited for the sequel.

i didnt realy understand the plot because i didnt play the first game but aparently there is a chick named alma with phycic powers whos realy pissed off at something, you play as sgt. becket a soilder who i guess is phyco bitches new target because becket totally trips balls every 2 minutes.

near the beginning of the game you get a time control device, and this isnt some legendary dagger its just a piece of equipment you find lying on the ground, and as any fps with time control abilities it aliminates alot of dificulty in the game. im not saying that stopping time and blowing somebodys face off with a sniper rifle isnt fun its just it makes the game too easy. also there is giant robot mechs that you can use which pretty much eliminates the rest of the diffuclty, again fun but too easy.

if you think there is epic boss fights in this game your wrong! all major boos fights are settled with quick time events (with exception of the robots you fight) and these arent hard fast quicktime events like in RE4
they are just repeatadly tapping the same button! rinse, repeat, get another acheivment
ill give you a mental picture of the final boss fight, okay your friend went insane because of alma and now is trying to kill you, what do you do? you turn off a switch 3 times then do a quick time event! thats the game you won good job

okay the multiplayer
you can custimize different classes with diffrent guns, grenades, etc.
but theres just your average multiplayer games here team death, capture the flag etc.
its not bad it just doesent add anything new to the party

this game is okay though at times pretty dull, id say seven out of ten

one thing i dont get about the story is that its like the scientist were trying to piss alma off, what they did was isolated her from the real world, got here pregnant, then took her baby
"dont worry soilder there is no posible way that she will use her powers to break out and kill us all" said the commander before his head exploded

Fear 2 was...decent. 7/10 is about right, though a little grammar-checking wouldn't go amiss.

I agree with OP for the most part. I did find the game a bit more enjoyable as I had played previous Fear games (does help quite a bit with the story). Btw you might want to remove the spoiler from the end of your post (or at least hide it :p)

Fear 2 is just an average FPS with only one saving grace, Alma. Take her away and it's lost it's charm. Thats how I feel about Fear 2, but then again, you could say that for alot of games.

Having not played Fear 1 though, it sounds a lot better then Fear 2.

Well it's DEFFINITLY not a bad one. Rent it, I'd say. Try it out first or check the demos and walkthroughs up to a point where you either can decide wether or not you wanna PLAY your way to conclusion or just wnana know how the story goes and save some money.

After a few years and a few more games like it, I think the original FEAR has lost some of its luster. I played it the XBox 360 version (Don't give me that look! I found it in a pawn shop...), and found it to be pretty mediocre. The guns didn't feel responsive, the controls were clunky and there were only two or three moments of genuine terror. Lots of suspense, but not many "omg" moments. And I think hearing the major plot points of FEAR 2 before playing FEAR 1 drained my respect for the story. Seriously, I have no idea how you can screw up a storyline that badly in a sequel.

Not going to lie, I didn't read the review. Partly because of what the previous comment said about the spoiler, but mostly because it looks like a... mess.

That was one of the worst goddamn reviews I'd ever read, and don't believe different from others. This is going to be harsh, but for your own good. Trust me on that.

You have dreadful grammar. Absolutely appalling. You misspell every other word and I genuinely couldn't find a sentence that I could read without trouble. Before writing I'd recommend typing and speaking properly ; learn to use the words before you start. Below I'm going to go through your awful review and fix the grammar. Capitalisation, proper use of full stops and commas and some spelling revision will clear up most of that for you, but some mistakes like "is" instead of "are" are the kind of thing I'd expect from a toddler or an idiot.

I didn't really understand the plot because I didn't play the first game, but apparently there is a chick named Alma with psychic powers who's really pissed off at something and you play as Sgt. See how much better that reads? I found a grand total of 73 spelling and grammatical errors. That's really, really bad. It's much easier to go through now, and is nicer to look at. Unfortunately it doesn't stop your review from being terrible, just nicely written.

You explain virtually nothing beyond the story beyond, some crazy chick. Trips balls? What? Does he take drugs? You need to explain that kind of thing. You don't explain anything or elaborate, you just roar in and expect the reader to decipher your meaning no matter how difficult. Secondly, you don't actually explain what the game is, or how it plays. You say FPS once but not in the context of the game you're reviewing which isn't useful. Is it an RTS? A survival RPG? You have to explain things to be a good review, but Jesus Christ, you don't explain what the fuck's going on at all, and this brings me on neatly to the next point.

You don't say anything about gameplay other than quicktime events. Seriously, just that. Nothing about atmosphere, or the enemies or the weapons, just "quicktime events". For all I know this is an RTS set in colonial-era Mongolia. I happen to know better, but still.

Once you've upped the quality of the grammar, fleshed out the explanation and actually put some thought into explaining game elements to prospective buyers, then you've got a decently average review.

You then have to analyse the information that you've given. It's no good saying that guns shoot, you need to tell the reader about how they shoot. How they handle, what features are there in gameplay and such. You have to break it down and in essence, that's a review. You've explained the game and either expressed an opinion on it, or if you're good, then you've balanced opinion with fact and left the reader to decide if the game is one they want or not.

By now you've fleshed it out and fixed the grammar, then you need to polish everything off, and provide a conclusion, and in your case, a view on multiplayer. Again, you suffer from no information. Multiplayer eh? Frag grenades? Customise my class? How about the maps, explain some of the gameplay elements and how they're worked into the game, explain and anaylise here, and you're doing better.

Then you need to sum up. You really don't need an arbitrary score on the end, you can just give a simple "yay" or "nay", or an in betweeny sort of opinion, and you need to be definitive. Your ending meanders a bit like a lost child, and gives little closure. Again, this game could be set in inner-city Berlin circa 1708 and be an RPG about Sgt. Becket and Alma, the scary detective duo. Seriously, brush up on that, read other, better reviewers and try to use their techniques and writing styles, while individualising your work.

I'm pretty sure I've seen worse. Bad memories...

Also, damn you, Octorok; you took pretty much everything I was going to say!

OP, read and learn from Octorok's post, don't say what happens at the end (we don't like spoilers) and for the love of God explain your rating. Pretty much everything you said was either a mediocre opinion or a negative one and then you give it 7/10, a rating I'd refer to as pretty good. If you're going to give it a good rating, list some good points about it.

Also, I'd suggest adding a conclusion. A good conclusion should be a summary of your main points and give reasoning for your opinion on it. I see neither here... nor do I see a conclusion for that matter. A good conclusion shouldn't even require a rating: A buy/ rent/ avoid system is what The Escapist use, and whilst a rating system can be used, if the conclusion's detailed and explanatory enough then it doesn't even need a rating system whatsoever.
