My friend hates america with a passion. Next time I see him I'll ask why and might edit this.
The only real problem I have with america is that they do tend to alienate the rest of the world. Not so much now and it might be because of 9/11. Also how they don't release games to australia for a long time. Not as bad as japan but still...

America has tough airport security because we're tired of having people try and hijacking our planes. It is not hilarious. We seem to not be able to act on our intel very well so we have to rely on scanning people at airports. As for racial profiling, who would you rather give an extra scan to, an elderly British woman, or a young, Middle Eastern man with a turban?
Most of the Americans I've met have been fairly sound people, but I'll never truly be able to trust the nation that gave us the KKK, George Bush, the Bible belt, patriotism on such a stupidly wide-spread level, careless support of dangerous powers, the ability to turn up late to a war and claim full credit for saving the world, failure to use the letter "U" properly, Guantanamo bay, acceptance of Fox news, a good portion of the world's polution and Fifty Cent! 
Wasn't it the british at one point going "Oh those poor savages. We must educate them. Lets do it by taking over and killing those who stand up against us." As for WWII, Pretty much the Americans *WERE* helping already. They were shipping stuff over to Britan. Its just that finally something happened that pretty much pissed everyone off (Pearl Harbor.) And galvanized everyone into going "No. Screw this. We're tired of wars. Lets go kick some ass." And proceeded to come in and help curb stomp Germany.
Before then, yes. Britan was fighting the good fight. But they were losing. America steps in. Suddenly it changes.
I agree also that mindless patriotism is a danger. Support your nation always. Support your government whenever they deserve it -someone...think it might be Mark Twain.
Actually about pollution? China and India are the worst offenders. America has actually cut back. A lot.
Guantanamo bay... Where exactly would *you* put the potentially dangerous people who want to blow shit up? In the normal jails? They're not criminals, they're prisoners of war.
I find it hilarious that someone was so pissed that a Quran got wet. And yet how many Qurans have been destroyed by terrorists bombing other Muslim churches?
