As long as my character doesn't drown,
(Come on Altair, you can climb any structure and run along roof-tops without so much a second's rest, but you can't tread water?!)
I don't mind going in water.

Most games I've recently played the water is heavily radioactive or all around you, so as if you're in it, you're probably drowning.

It varies from game to game.

This has been a new things for me, after playing Just Cause and GTA4, everytime I'm falling toward the ground, more specifically a body of water I feel almost as if I'm the one hitting it. Probably with how awesome water looks in games these days

call me a baby. but who here rememembers the eel from super mario sunshine, when i was little, i could only fight that thing because the screen i was playing on was small and i couldn't get a good look at it, and for those of you who think the ichthyosaur is scary, i wholeheartedly agree with you those things are terrifying.

I'm only afraid when I can't fight back.
Otherwise...bring it on, sharks!

Also, I think the fear was more applicable in the '90s where there existed plenty of games where falling into water would downright kill you. Still a few around these days...

The fact that no one has said anything about Sonic [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yw5jkAHgME] surprises me.
That legit brought me back to panic attacks from the 90s.

I was afraid of Insta-Drown brand water until I was able to use it to my benefit all through Hitman: Blood Money, then it became rather hilarious.

The water part in Amnesia: The Dark Descent has made me wary of other water levels in games.

You'd probably like Psychonauts then. The main character and his family are all cursed to die in water.

The water physics in that game were kinda fun. Too bad the rest of it was kinda dull.

But no I'm not afraid of water in Video games. I am annoyed that it seems like a good 90% of characters can't swim, but that's it.

I am just afraid that, upon jumoping merrily into the water, I shall discover that my character has undergone the wolverine treatment in the past and his metal-coated bones cause him to sink to the bottom of the ocean like a flailing, drowning, possibly screaming, rock, which would cause me to lose untold hours of progress and smash yet another controller with my eyelashes.

I do like water in "Just Cause 2" though, since Rico is apparently a decendant of Poseidon, he can actually stay underwater for so long that every single enemy around him will forget why they were mad at him.
It helps that he is only fighting alzheimer patients (with surprisingly good aim) though.

God yes! I never even completed Sonic because I was always too nervous to do the underwater level. I would get that far and then just turn it off and do something else, or hand it over to whoever else was there and have them do it for me. Every other game with water/swimming makes me flashback to it. Childhood trauma!

Come on, if you're going to run around necroing threads at least have the balls to do it on your main account. Accept your identity, revel in it, don't hide it in shame and cowardice.
