Job interviews are almost always "unfair" anyway - they have a mass of applicants and there are always a lot of qualified people with no reason to select one over the other. The "hum a tune" bit is especially bullshit, since you said this was a software related job.
This is super ok, trust me. While it probably wasn't wise to not prepare your lies, you didn't do anything wrong. These people have the weirdest, most arbitrary expectations, and it's completely ok to tailor your CV or your interview towards that. You never lied about anything pertaining to the job at hand.

I'm with manic on this one. If you didn't lie about your qualifications, then I don't see an issue. You lied about being wanted by other companies to increase your attractiveness as a prospect, and you made up a tune on the spot. I would have done the same.

To put things in perspective, the interview wasn't to figure out if you were a liar, it was to figure out if you'd be great for the job, so I'm in agreement with everyone. Everyone, from the President ("i didn't have sexual relations with that woman", "mission accomplished", "we didn't have the facts on benghazi"), to lawyers ("donald sterling is not a racist"), to the person who interviewed you ("we'll call you back shortly"), to your mom ("that looks good on you") have lied. What if you hadn't lied? Those silly things may have been taken against you ("non guitar player candidate that no other companies would want").

That...really isn't so bad.

I've seen people lie about skills, criminal backgrounds, and even one guy casually failed to mention he was on a sexual predator list.

Which is kind all big deals.
