I don't think it means what you think it means either. People will define different things as being promiscuous, and I personally would call getting naked for people and dancing on their laps being promiscuous. I am aware of the difference.
Promiscuity, in human sexual behavior, refers to the practice of casual sex with multiple sexual partners.[1] The term can carry a moral judgement and is viewed in the context of the mainstream social ideal for sexual activity to take place within exclusive committed relationships. A common example of behavior viewed as promiscuous within the mainstream social ideals of many cultures is a one night stand.
Straight from wikipedia , also same thing you would find in a dictionary. You can persnally consider it what you want , but it doesn't change what it actually means .
Like the color red is red . You can call it blue if you like , doesn't change the fact that it's red .
Wikipedia is not the font of all human knowledge, and that definition is incorrect. Promiscuous (the word I used, not promiscuity) means 'casual and unrestrained in sexual behaviour', or 'unselective'. Don't presume to lecture me on the definition of a word you need Wikipedia to understand.

right. Because getting a definition for a person who is apparently ignorant , in turn makes me ignorant . Love that logic man . Anyways, i'm done . Have fun changing definitions to your personal liking.

I'm not ignorant, I know the definition of the word 'promiscuous', and just told you what it is. You tried to correct me when I was right all along, and continued to do so. My logic is sound - you jumped in to correct me on the definition of the word promiscuous, but in telling me had to look the word up on Wikipedia yourself, meaning you challenged me on my grasp of the English language without knowing the precise definition of the word you were calling me out on. Bad move.
I literally would not give a shit. It's the 21st century, what a person does with their body is pretty much irrelevant to a relationship, as long as they're not deceiving the other person by cheating etc.
I'd have serious issues knowing that she's lied about what her job was up till now. If she's lying about that, I'd have major trust concerns and the relationship would probably take a dive from there.
Since I love her though I wouldn't just up and leave. I'd let her know how I feel about the situation and see what happens. I'm morally against that profession, but that doesn't make it any less credible than my job.

OT: I've dated a stripper before, they make good money, as others have said the problem would be wondering why she felt the need to hide it, and my reaction would be dependent on the reason
Hmm, this reminds me of something...

I wouldn't feel comfortable with her continuing with it as a career while I dated her. Being promiscuous with other guys is being unfaithful, whether you're getting paid or not.
Agreed. If it was someone who I was that in love with, I'd probably try to tough it out. Probably end up taking the Barney route and be physically unable to sit still for fear of thinking about it. I'd end up going out and doing crazy shit every night she worked.
At some point, rationality would kick in and as it got more serious, I'd ask her to stop. With a regular girlfriend? There's the "hell yeah" factor, but if there was any emotional attachment less than above, I'd probably leave her.
If I was feeling sociopathically spiteful, I'd probably frequent the club she works at to make her uncomfortable. But probably not. I'm a sociopath, but I'm also a decent guy, if that makes sense.

Why does everyone today seem to think I need an education in the usage of the word promiscuous?
Promiscuous means you are indiscriminate in your sexual behaviour, which will mean different things to different people. As I have previously stated in this thread, I would call dancing provocatively for another man 'sexual behaviour', and am thus justified in calling a stripper 'promiscuous'. It does not have to mean having sex.
If you're uncomfortable with a lot of other men seeing your girlfriend mostly/completely naked, then yeah, you should probably break up with her. If you consider her not telling you a large breech of trust then yeah, you should probably break up with her. Either way the best thing to do is have a long serious conversation about it and actually talk about it.
I would be alright; so long as she had a good reason for telling me.
Also, I'm surprised no one has posted this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqDjMZKf-wg
Might not be the exact topic, but it's pretty close.
Uh, I don't see why you'd dump her, I really don't. I mean, if you get along with her, why would suddenly finding out her career change anything? Am I not getting something here? I just don't see the issue.
Let's take this hypothetical situation, what would you do if you found out that the girl you've fallen for and been going out with for a while is a stripper? would it be wrong to just dump her and never speak to her again because you judged her before you got to know the situation she's in and offer her support? or do you have the right to break up with her knowing that she did not trust you enough to tell you(in essence making her own judgement) and the thought of all the guys that have seen and touched her would is just unbearable?
It would be impossible to date her only if you were one of those oversensitive insecure guys who think that stripping is the "gateway drug" to prostitution.
I don't think it's really over-sensitive to get jealous of your girlfriend getting naked and dancing in another man's lap. If I was going out with a girl who did that, I'd find it pretty hard not to feel funny about it at first. I'd probably get over it (depending on how well our relationship was going) but not everyone is as liberal as I am towards such things and not everyone should have to be if they're not comfortable with it.
Not that wouldn't date a stripper on principle, but I'd certainly be more offended by the fact that they hid their job from me if we'd been going out for a reasonable amount of time: the fact that they were hiding it indicates that they thought it was something that would have upset me, yet they chose to keep it secret.
Uh, I'd be super pissed she didn't tell me earlier so I could go to the club and watch her grind on guys and girls. I sorta get off on stuff like that.
