FF13 to be released on the 360 in Japan, people furious. Wait, what?

It should be a non issue. This surprises me actually coming from japan. I mean the 'uproar' wasn't that bad when Mass Effect 2 said it was going to ps3, why should it be any different for this.

I'd also be mad that they said one thing and did another. If I owned a 360 or neither of the systems, I'd be irked that I was told to buy the PS3 for that one game if my interest rested only with the 360.

But if you were interested in the FF series enough to buy a console for one single game, wouldn't you have bought a PS3 to begin with? Also, couldn't you just import the english version of FF13 on the 360?

Personally, I'd make my choice on a tipping scale. I might see games like Halo that pique my interest, but not enough to actually go down and buy a 360. This is all hypothetical, but if I had no interest in the PS3, but only some interest in the 360, and I wanted to play FF that bad, I'd want it on the 360 if I could help it. This news would make it so that I was stuck with a whole machine that I didn't really care for and my interests in the 360 would not have been sated. That would be enough reason to be mad.

Also, why should I import if they made the game for my console of choice, but decided to not sell it to me, only to have it in another language? I think most fanboys are crying because of the Japan>America thing though, which is probably why they didn't release it on the 360 in the first place. FF13 was originally announced as a PS3 only title, so I'm sure plenty of people preemptively bought a PS3 for that announcement.

One idea is that it's the Japanese 360 users who've bought a PS3 just to play FF13 and now feel cheated. However, that makes no sense because why would you buy a console just to play one game? And if you ARE such a big fan of the FF series, why the hell did you buy a 360 over a PS3 in the first place?

Almost Everyone who buys a console does so in order to play one game. It's a game that people want to play so bad that they actually go out and buy a console. Generally, that person will continue to play games and buy games after that first purchase, but almost every console purchase is directed at wanting to play one game.

I bought my Xbox to play KOTOR, and my 360 to play Mass Effect. I bought my second 360 (after the first one crapped out) to play Mass Effect 2. I bought my NES to play Mario 3, my SNES to play Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger, my DS to play Elite Beat Agents.. I think it's a pretty typical practice.

Actually, that's putting it lightly. In fact, because the 360 is shunned so bad over there, PS3 now has the most units sold world-wide, despite having a poor start in this 'console war'. Plus, it has to do with the types of games on the 360. The Japanese just don't seem to care about shooters, it would seem.

I would only be mad if I bought a PS3 just for FFXIII and already had a 360 because it was stated that it would be exclusive to PS3.
