Geez Nomura, Square Enix must really trust you if you're going to spend so much resources on a console exclusive game.

Does anyone else realize that XIII, XIII-2, and Versus XIII have pretty much the same development teams? They have to finish XIII-2, then they'll probably get back to Versus XIII. As I stated in the other thread, calm down, they'll get to it soon enough. And no, chances are they won't immediately start work on KHIII, FFXV, or FFXIII-3 after XIII-2 comes out.
Square Enix has many branches; Hajime Tabata has his own team and they're working on Final Fantasy Type-0; Nomura has the KH team and is working on adding more belt designs on Versus XIII; and Toriyama is working on XIII-2 with his team of newbies, and they're finishing it so quickly because they had a lot of unused crap from XIII. Though they share some people like Kazushige Nojima(and the KH team was taken for a bit to help on XIII), they're mostly different teams created so they could see how they would function using the same lore.

If the teams worked together on one game, it wouldn't take them half a decade to release a single HD game.

Nojima, Nomura, and Yoko Shimomura are ALL at work right now in one way or the other on something. The three most important people who work on this game are not available, not to mention that because this is going to be a cross between the KH and XIII teams, it has yet to settle who from what teams will be doing what. What I meant was that these two games, V-XIII and XIII-2 have both Nojima and Nomura working on it, and Shimomura is probably writing music for Dream Drop Distance right now.

Square doesn't have a history of dropping already announced projects (Give it to their credit that they've never ACTUALLY confirmed FFVII:pS3), and I find it worth stressing that if no one's actually started work on it, it can't be DNF. That game had people working on it for 15 straight years and the end result was shit.

The truth is, Square basically put out a trailer years before (like they always do) to build hype. You'll remember KHII was pretty much announced at the end of Kingdom Hearts, and it took them three years to make the game. Probably because, again, Nomura was tied up in X-2, and Nojima was as well, so really, it only took about a year in true development time. So yeah, I expect it'll be out about the end of next year.

Probably the tsunami and blackouts are slowing things down.

http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/17/japanese-officials-warn-massive-blackouts-could-hit-tokyo/

The amount of power generated by the Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), the region's main energy utility, has dropped by 25 percent following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. That disaster knocked out two of the company's nuclear power stations -- including a plant at Fukushima, which is now pumping radioactive steam into the atmosphere -- as well as numerous power lines and substations.

To cover the energy shortfall, TEPCO on Monday introduced staggered, rolling blackouts across the greater Tokyo area. Whole districts of the city -- famed for its always-blazing neon lights and electric billboards -- have descended into darkness for up to four hours at a time as millions of homes, offices, shops, factories and street lights were switched off to save power. Tokyo Tower, a landmark that has lit up the capital's night sky with 176 floodlights for the past 22 years, has also been darkened over for the past six days.
