I'm sure we have one of those.

And prepare to quake-proof your houses because this may rock your world; I'm a Brony that's not a fan of Discord from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

(insert sitcom audience boos here)

Yeah, yeah just hear me out.

I should start by saying that when I first learned about the two-part Season 2 premire 'Return to Harmony', I kept bumping into different parts of the plot being brought up on TV Tropes.

It gave me this impression; "Characters going OOC? a god-like villian sue who spends time trolling at the heroes and using various flavors of Deux Ex Machinas on them? this isn't a MLP episode, this is bad fan fiction writing!"

So for a a while I deafly avoided 'Return to Harmony' and went as far as skipping it when I finished the Season 1 episodes.

However, I eventually caved in when I finished watching all the other Season 2 episodes, and much to my surprise; I was wrong about it.

I was originally lend to believe Discord was some Villain Sue that was able to beat the Mane 6 effortlessly. But I saw the episode and realized how there was actual effort and intelligence in his planning. And I did find it clever that he brought most them them psychologically (with Fluttershy as an exception, humorously enough.

But in a sense, while I don't think Discord is the worst portrayed character, I'm not convinced he was very well-rounded.

Consider this, we're looking at a guy whose biggest desire is to turn Equestria into a world of chaos and misery. And when he first defeated the Mane 6 he effectively got his wish, but was cocky enough to mostly ignore them when they got back to normal, and he failed to notice they can use the Elements of Harmony again until it was too late.

To clarify, I went from prematurely considering Discord a Villain Sue to considering him a half-decent physical god villain with clever psychological tactics, that suddenly degrades to bond-villain stupidity in the last few minutes.

I know alot of other fans like Discord, though I think I can only slightly see why, and I heard somewhere that Discord is voiced by the same person who did a villain named Q from Star Trek, but I haven't seen Star Trek so I wouldn't know about him.

I just personally find Discord considerably overrated, I heard there were rumors that he might return in future episodes, and I don't think I'd mind too much, just as long as it takes what happened in 'Return to Harmony' into account and I suppose it might be interesting to see Discord having to be alot more cautious if he tries to defeat the Mane 6 again.

If you're among those who like Discord, good for you, but what charm he had on you didn't really affect me, but then, I'm an MLP fan who has Princess Celestia as one of his favorite characters.

Anyway, what fictional characters do you dislike that others enjoy?

The main character in Persona 3. I'll just quote Yahtzee as "no matter how you play him, he is the ponciest ponce to ever ponce past a poncing parlour."

I really don't like that guy. Don't you give me the "blank slate" excuse, there's still room inherent character development of such a character even with player dialogue choices. Notice for example that the MC in Persona 4 has options to say a few negative lines early on but they fade out into more positive options as the game goes on and the negatives die almost entirely.

Basically, he made friends! Shocking!

Oops, the Persona 3 MC is still breezing through the entire game with "I don't care" emblazoned on his forehead. That dialogue choice is always, always there. It's disturbing. Not to mention you have to have 50 billion girlfriends to max all the S. Links, he never seems to give a damn, he has almost no part in the progression of most of the party's respective character arcs over the natural story (Except Aigis) and so much more.

It's got the problem of going against its own theme. You can't have an anti-social loner MC stay the exact same anti-social loner throughout the entire game because the game is about bloody friendship! Somebody introduce this guy to Neku dammit.

Oh and Duncan from DA:O. He was in it for all of one hour and he did some vaguely mentorish stuff before dying horribly. /yawn. His entire point was to kickstart the plot and give Alistar something to mope about and overcome in his character arc.

Umm there are likely some characters I don't like all that much that others do. But I don't care if they do. All this kind of thread is is hipster ego jerking off. "Oh you don't like something that someone dose like, that clearly makes you better then them and more intelligent" All this ever turns into is I don't like X others are dumb for liking it. I would love to be proven wrong but I don't think I will be.

I'll second that.

I'll also add to my list most of the cast of Family Guy as they were in the later seasons.

As apparently, Seth Macfarlane somehow suddenly decided that it would be funny to turn most of characters of the show into horridly cruel and mean-spirited jerks and somehow thought it would be funny.

seriously, what was up with that?

#2, I hate peggy hill.
People like Peggy Hill? I wasn't really aware of that.
Maybe not "like", but respect. She's good at what she does.
not really, she prides herself on being an excellent substitute Spanish teacher but on a field trip to Mexico she can't properly communicate, even almost losing a student.
In fact, I dislike nearly every character in the show aside from Hank, Dale, Boomhauer (however you spell it) Bill, and a few other male characters (most of the females in that show are either too obnoxious or just outright stupid, especially Luanne - I mean Hank tries to tell her about her tipped over trailer and she refuses to acknowledge it exists just because it's tipped over.

Serana from skyrim. I have never hated a character more. Mostly because of the fact you are forced to help in in order to play the DLC, and she is unkillable.

The characters from Family guy. They're all shallow, hypocritical, disgusting people. I don't identify with any of them, and I stopped watching the show because I simply came to hate everyone in the show.

I'm recall multiple episodes where the message seemed to be, "Sure everyone hates you, but it's your JOB to be hated so THEY feel better about themselves!"

No. That is a terrible message. A terrible message told by terrible characters.

Batman.

Yeah, I said it. Batman.

Total ponce, that one. Superman I like because of the whole messiah thing. I like most of the popular Marvel characters (Spidey being my favorite superhero of all). Most non-XTREME 90's comic characters I have no real problem with. I don't like Batman because he's a Mary Sue at this point, and he's sort of a hilarious self-parody. A dark superhero character can totally work; but when you decide to detail why that character is dark, and then give them the weakest reason to be brooding out of most other comic characters, he starts to lose appeal. Frank Castle has a good reason to be a dark "I-AM-JUSTICE" type. Batman, not so much. Not to mention anytime someone feels like calling him out on his jerk behavior, he resorts to his trump card of dead parents. Superman's entire species is dead and he's still a pretty nice guy. Then you add in the fact that, of the major three superheroes (Spidey, Bats, and Supes), he's the only one who doesn't really have a big philosophical concept behind him, and you understand my frustration at him being the biggest thing since sliced bread. I mean, I might be able to like him a bit if everyone wasn't so in love with him, but they are, to a grating degree, and when I look at it I just can't see much to love besides "cool-techy-ninja-dude". There's no really likable character there, no deep moral themes; just the cool dude who beats up criminals and has a gadget for everything.

Jellal Fernandez from Fairy Tail.

He is a base breaker for many fans anyway, half love him, half hate him.

I hate him because he just won't f**k off, dude, you were a good villain for the Tower of Heaven arc, but you are overstaying your welcome! Too bad he is the creators pet of the series.

Also, Sasuke Uchiha, do I really have to explain why I hate him?
Agreed on all fronts. Now I'll go sit in the ninja'd corner with all the other boys and girls who already had their opinions expressed.

Garfield.

I hate that cat so much. ALL OF MY HATE. When I get around to him on my review show (which you can watch here, new episodes every Friday, sorry for shameless self-promotion), blood. Will. Be. Shed.

And I will revel in it.

Seconding Peggy, Spongebob, and the P3 MC.

Peggy is just so annoying. Almost everything she says makes me cringe and whenever she was sad all I could think of was "good".

I'm just so sick of Spongebob ruining peoples lives and not getting punished ever. It's just depressing to see Squidward, Mrs. Puff, and Sandy getting so abused. Especially when Spongebob's up doing something wrong in front of everybody and they're like "Seems okay to me". NO! IT IS NOT OKAY TO RUN OVER CIVILIANS, LEVEL THE TOWN, AND NOT BE THROWN IN JAIL! Fuck that hurts my head.

And the P3 MC just doesn't deserve half of the praise he gets. He look like a depressing emo kid yet everyone calls me cool and handsome and I somehow solve everyone's problems with such half-assed responses. I never feel like I did anything worth being a fuckin god in everyone's eyes. I can go the whole game with saying "whatever" and "I don't care" to people and in the end I'll still be the fucking messiah of friendship.

For someone I personally hate, Bloo from Foster's home for imaginary friends. Kind of for the same reason as Spongebob, but in this show he does get punished. It's just that he still keeps being such a dick to his friends. What's worse is that in the movie that started the show, he was a really likable character. What the hell made them think it was a good idea to make Bloo a total dick?! I just keep feeling bad for everyone involved in Bloo's schemes, Especially Mac. I can't help but think Mac wonders "What happened to you Bloo? Why did you turn into such a dick!?" :'(
