Deadpool. But I've come to accept him.
I used to think that he's the Dane Cook of Superheroes, but some of Deadpool's popularity is actually deserved.

Batman.

Yeah, I said it. Batman.

Total ponce, that one. Superman I like because of the whole messiah thing. I like most of the popular Marvel characters (Spidey being my favorite superhero of all). Most non-XTREME 90's comic characters I have no real problem with. I don't like Batman because he's a Mary Sue at this point, and he's sort of a hilarious self-parody. A dark superhero character can totally work; but when you decide to detail why that character is dark, and then give them the weakest reason to be brooding out of most other comic characters, he starts to lose appeal. Frank Castle has a good reason to be a dark "I-AM-JUSTICE" type. Batman, not so much. Not to mention anytime someone feels like calling him out on his jerk behavior, he resorts to his trump card of dead parents. Superman's entire species is dead and he's still a pretty nice guy. Then you add in the fact that, of the major three superheroes (Spidey, Bats, and Supes), he's the only one who doesn't really have a big philosophical concept behind him, and you understand my frustration at him being the biggest thing since sliced bread. I mean, I might be able to like him a bit if everyone wasn't so in love with him, but they are, to a grating degree, and when I look at it I just can't see much to love besides "cool-techy-ninja-dude". There's no really likable character there, no deep moral themes; just the cool dude who beats up criminals and has a gadget for everything.
That reminded me of this video.

Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2.

I hate the character. Right from the opening taunts up to the closing scenes of the game after the final storyline mission. And not in the love to hate him sort of way either just to be clear, just straight simple all out and honest human hatred. It's like Gearbox outsourced his creation to the Occupy movement and directed them to come up with a Saturday morning cartoon version of the devil.

I also hate Claptrap, also from Borderlands 2.

Somewhere between the first game and the second the long suffering little robotic slave shtick stopped working for me or somebody turned the flanderisation up to eleven, and now all he does is put my teeth on edge whenever I have to put up with him.

Rose Tyler in Series 2 of Doctor Who. She is clingy, possessive, and immature. She also VASTLY overestimates her own importance in the overall scheme of things and never ever gets brought down a level. Not to be confused with Rose Tyler of Series 1, who is a much more relatable character who exhibits actual character growth and gets called out on her mistakes every single time she made one. I seriously have no idea why RTD thought reducing her to the status of Designated Love Interest and Nothing Else was a good idea.

The absolute height of her immaturity comes in Series 4, when the Daleks invade and she's eavesdropping on a conference call of former companions. What is she thinking about? Not that everyone she ever knew is about to die horribly, but that she "was here first" and therefore is more entitled to be in on this conversation than the four people who are more useful, powerful and informed than she is. Seriously, gain some goddamn perspective.

Liara fucking T'Soni. Was only plot relevant in the first game due to Benezia being Saren's right hand, does nothing for the rest of the series but be space waifu socially awkward nerd fantasy bait, either for them to shove their dick in with Sheploo or have steamy PG Lesbian sex with Femshep.

Seriously, what did she do that was plot relevant past ME1? Become the Shadow Broker? Whatever happened to that whole Scientist thing? And even that does little to pan out. Once she joins you again in ME3, anything regarding her being the Shadow Broker barely even registers.

I fucking hate her personality. It's just the same Wilting Flower routine to make socially awkward gamers go gaga over her, because there is somebody more inept than they are, and since she's virtual, they are playing a power fantasy.

I don't get why so many bronies like her?
They say she's just "misunderstood" and "over looked".
Well all I see is an attention seeker who likes to make other ponies miserable and make herself feel superior.
I just think her little hat and cape are cute...

I never really understood why people like Kratos (from God of War). After playing the first GoW, all I got was that he basically decided to screw up the entire world (by killing gods) just because he let himself be manipulated by one into doing...what he normally does anyway? I realize he killed his wife and child, but that wasn't because of Ares. He did it himself in Ares' name. Not only that, but from what I hear, what little character he did have just kind of devolved from there.

I suppose the only reason I feel he deserves mention is because of all the people I've met that like Kratos. Every time I ask why they like him, I've never gotten an answer beyond, "Because he's awesome/epic!" When I ask for an elaboration, I never get one, unless you count listing off his achievements in violence. He's just a murder machine with a human figure, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, it irks me when people try to convince me he's good as an actual character. As a character, he's pretty one-dimensional, and not very relatable at that.

But that's me, and I understand that it's only my opinion (and vice-versa).

The main character in Persona 3. I'll just quote Yahtzee as "no matter how you play him, he is the ponciest ponce to ever ponce past a poncing parlour.
I did get the feeling that his dialogue was often a choice between saying, "OK," and "OK, but I'm mildly dissatisfied about it."

Nathan Drake, I understand you're an optimistic guy Nate and they shot first but DEAR GOD you snap necks like its no ones business! Where the hell is your humanity? Oh wait you hid it with your classic smug one-liners, and rash actions that in turn kills millions.

If it weren't for your touching relationship with Aigis, Persona 3 MC, I would despise you, but for now I will only dislike you.

The "new..." Dante: If you think swearing like a sailor, smoking cigarettes, and being a douche makes you "cool", you're trying way to hard. You would not survive a day in this gens high school. Its a pretty bad sign that a character can be this unlikeable even when the game isn't out yet... I'll just stick to DMC1/3 Dante, he's a cool guy.

Claptrap, until his VA gave that out of character monologue dedicated to a deceased Borderlands fan. Respect for his character before and after that event was pretty non existent... he's like Spongebob, speaking of Spongebob...

Spongebob. Enough has already been said.

I second that, but I don't like Rose Tyler in general, no matter in what season she is in.
And that scene you describe is much more annoying considering that was VERY established that she wasn't the first, not by a fucking long shot.
I also don't like the fact that she seems to care very little for everyone surrounding her except the Doctor.

Superman, Batman, Professor X, etc.

I don't really like what I perceive as "lawful ", but especially goes for those whom are lawfully-good like the above. They always remind me of the kind of people that think everyone should be punished for doing something evil even if there is no real victim.

I hope you're aware of Garfield Minus Garfield [http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/], a shocking look into the inner turmoil of Jon Arbuckle.

For my own pick, Starbuck from BSG. I'm not sure if people actually like her, but anyway, her uncanny ability to act like a horrible person and then take it incredibly personally when they get upset is incredibly endearing, but I especially like how she makes many issues about herself despite the fact that everyone is miserable, you know, because there's a robot fleet trying to eliminate the human race. Nothing compared to lame drama with Apollo.

Speaking of God of War. I hate the gods in God of War, ALL of them. They're complete idiots for making Kratos the monster he is ( although Kratos is not without blame in this too) then screwing him and trying to kill him and are somehow surprised to see him pissed off a them.

Batman. Already been explained by somene else.

Yukari Takeba. Just didn't really like her. Came off as spoiled to me, don't know why.

Junpei Iori. He was just a immature brat. Always got pissy when the main character was leading the group.

Duke Nukem. There's nothing more to say. -_-

Everyone in King of the Hill... Except Bobby.

Ever anime character than was the strong but stupid type like yushimori(Kekkaishi). Especially, when they don't try to be smart and yet SOMEHOW they understand things better than anyone else.

i'm gonna stop before I create a wall of text and cause a riot.

Can't think of anyone in any sitcoms I've watched.

It's funny...I like Aragorn on both the LotR MMO & books, but I hated him in the movie.

Everyone in The Walking Dead except Daryl, Carl, T-Dog, Glenn, & Dale. (& I already know which 2 are going to die).

Harley Quinn from Batman TAS & the comic books; she's only tolerable when she's hanging out with Poison Ivy.

Catwoman.

Shinunora from Gun Frontier.

Absolutely everyone but Kaworu from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Soubi from Loveless.

Rainbow Dash is my least favorite pony, which is odd because she reminds me of my favorite Charlie Brown character; Peppermint Patty. (& no, I don't think either are gay, & I'm bi so I wouldn't have a problem with it if they were).

Adult Scooby & Shaggy. I however loved Scrappy as a kid & like everyone in A Pup Named Scooby Doo.

Tweety Bird, Roadrunner, & Tom the Mouse; When the underdog goes undefeated for more than 50 years, it's time to let the other side win.

Miss Piggy, Elmo.

Amy Rose & Rogue the Bat in Sonic X.

Bah, don't listen to those people. Of course she's an unsympathetic character; that's why she departs at the end of her episode without even attempting to redeem herself. I like her because all her awfulness makes her so lovably hateful in her role as antagonist. (All of which goes doubly for Discord, to briefly address the OP.)

As for me... well, obviously no one likes Sonic's personality in any of the 3D games, but I've come across a rather disturbing number of people who point to Sonic Colors as a good example of how he ought to be characterized thanks to its more lighthearted, comedic tone as opposed to the majority of the 3D games that practically wrote the textbook on how to take your story too seriously. While I fully agree that a Sonic game should be lighthearted - the game's theme song/pre-title menu video did a great job of communicating the right sense of vibrant fun for the most part, and heightened my expectations quite a bit - its attempts at "comedy" made me want to slap every last ounce of stupid out of the game's writers. In my (admittedly not-very-extensive) experience with the series, Sonic has never come close to being as obnoxious as he was in that game, and it was that characterization (along with all the other characters in the game, really) that resulted in Sonic Colors effortlessly topping my list of the most painful video game stories I've ever had to experience.

I hate that cat so much. ALL OF MY HATE. When I get around to him on my review show (which you can watch here, new episodes every Friday, sorry for shameless self-promotion), blood. Will. Be. Shed.

And I will revel in it.

Johnny Depp actually got a Oscar nomination for that performance, for Christ's sake!

I agree. She's really useless, clingy, and worst of all, omnipresent. It's like all the other characters can die, one way or another, except her... I know some people like her, but I can't quite fathom why.

Not sure if this count but I'm pretty sure she got fans just like the other main characters

Half of the time she is either a bumbling idiot or a emotional shriek on pms or something. Sure an bumbling idiot is usually liked in a cartoon show (most of the time) but not her. Her emotional side is worse as she get it over the minor stuff.
Ok sure it's reasonable to get emotional when she thought the new neighbour son had attacked her daughter or when she found out Bree husband was the one who ran Mike over but she was wrong in the end (Mike forgive Bree husband and that boy was innocent). Gee you would thing you would keep your emotion in check for another incident especialy when it lead to you being wrong but not her!
