I would probably choose Mario's universe. It seems like a very simple and laid back place. No one ever really dies, and the closest thing to an actual world problem is Bowser's frequent attempts to capture the princess, which is a problem that it solved easily enough.

Pokemon, easily. Catch 'em all... not so much. Get myself a Blaziken, wipe out everyone and everything.

Star Trek: The Next Generation. My genre savvy would go a looooong way to getting captain.

I thought about My Little Pony, but then I remembered they don't have all the music I so dearly love. Or the games. Or the food. Also, I really doubt I'd be associated with the mane six, and the only exciting things in the world happen around them.
Also, no human ladies anywhere, and... well, THAT'S not gonna happen.
So, sadly, no living with the ponies, as I'm certain I would go bat-squeak insane.

Justice League. I think I could make it as a powerless superhero, if I train myself hard enough. And again, genre savvy.

The world of the Belgariad/Mallorean. Already I've lost probably 95% of you. The rest of you, you know what's up. When I fulfill my Purpose - I'll still be alive, because I'm automatically one of the good guys - I get rewarded by the Universe with a nice life.
Oh wait, same problem as the pony world. Food is good, but no games or music. Nuts.

Yeah, definitely the Pokemon universe. Specifically, I'd prefer Hoenn or Sinnoh, though Unova is nice, too.

I'd have to say the Firefly universe. Something about the cyberpunk theme set in an expansive galaxy appeals to me.

I figure I'd be a Browncoat who survived the war but with way less success than Capt Mal (and that's saying a lot). I'd spend my days taking whatever mercenary jobs available and my nights drinking to forget. Then one day, I redeem myself by helping a desperate family escape the clutches of servitude from a wealthy Alliance politician. I'd be gunned down in a blaze of glory but I'll have stalled the bad guys long enough for the family to get off world.

Nothing, it's effectively utopia.

Yeah I'd go with that. When life's options are as limitless as they are in Banks's universe (and importantly available to everybody) why choose anywhere else?

How about the Megaman Battle Network universe? Virus scans become video games, video games are still video games, and the level of technology is a good bit higher than ours! :p

Pokemon,

A rather large world with Super powered animals that have the intelligence of a 6 year old. They are best friends (usually) with us Humans. We work together and do things like competitive battling. In the Pokemon world, all problems are first world problems, there is no gang violence, gun murder, and the people are all friendly. The criminal organizations only use Zubat, Glameow, and Poochyenas so that makes them relatively beatable by anyone.

And on top of that, its like 30 years in the future in terms of technology.

And pollution hardly exists.

I pretty much win this thread
I'd like to second that you win this thread.

Yes god yes. Though I'd quite like to live during the period of time 'Excession' is set in, and maybe become a Culture Referrer. The wars in the culture universe always seemed more fun than anything. Probably because the Culture could kerb stomp anything thrown their way with one system class GSV... To be honest, the Culture could probably stomp the 40K universe...

I don't understand why people want to live in the Pokemon universe. You can't go 6 feet out of town without being attacked by a wild dog with flamethrower breath. Your daily commute would be through a jungle.

I've seen a few pornos that I wouldn't mind inhabiting, but I'd go for Doctor Who. Sure my life would be just as usual, but there is a slim hope I could one day travel through time.

Final Fantasy.
Don't need powers, just a sword, or in some cases, a beach ball.

Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh! sounds safer...
Hard choice.

I'd live on the Discworld. Seems to be one of the less dangerous universes. And if I do die, at most I'll just be annoyed instead of terrified.
This. This so much. Who cares if i don't have magic? My legs are as good as Rincewind's. Though I'd probably just join the Watch or something. Vimes is a decent boss.
Yes! Very much this!
I'd also most likely be living in Ankh-Morpork and the best job I can think of would indeed be in the Watch and I'd be damn proud of it! Can't really see myself living in the Chalk or any other place.. Well... maybe Überwald...

The best thing is that you don't have to change anything about yourself to be part of that universe. And you don't have to have any special powers to have an exciting life - take Moist von Lipwig and Polly Perks (Monstrous Regiment) for example.

I would live in the city of cwcville simply because I want to be there when the mayor is impeached. That would be an interesting and... eventful place to live.

Resident Evil.
i mean, if it would be okay to inject yourself with the controlled G virus that Birkin gave to Wesker, so that you would have super powers with no problems.

Or Demacia. (league of legends) i would work myself into a political situation and then i'd try to join the institute of war, and then i could try to become one of the 3 great summoners assistant or something, and then i would get money and fame and wimmen and maybe i'd get to meet kayle.....

Any fictional universe would do, I'm not exactly picky about this. But, if I were given a choice I'd say Marvel comics. There's ALOT of variety there, if you ever get tired of fighting alien overlords then you could just come down to Earth, learn magic, and get into a kung-fu fight with a mutant.

Of course, I'd have to be a hero or villain. I imagine being a regular civilian there would suck quite alot.

Did you read the OP at all? Pretty much the entire point was that you have to be a regular civilian, i.e. yourself, in the universe you go to.
