So, Sepp Blatter, president of FIFA has more or less confirmed that the 2022 world cup will be held in the summer...in Quatar. Even though the temperatures there are high enough to melt most of the players.
First he wouldn't allow goal line technology, now this. I think that the host country could have been chosen with a bit more consideration. When they chose Quatar over countries such as Australia, Spain/Portugal and England, did they not think about just how hot it gets over there; you're talking about a highly energetic and fatiguing tournament taking place in the middle of the summer, in a middle eastern country.
There was talk of holding the 2022 World Cup in winter and consequently changing 90% of world football fixtures to cater to this, but obviously managers complained about this and the plan of a winter world cup is highly unlikely to take place. Quote from Arsene Wenger "That is not possible, to change fixtures during mid season". Fine, but you'll be sorry when your players come back half melted..
My summary: Seep Blatter's mental.
