I like to use the taunt function in games if it is there as it gives my character more personality. I like to find ways to simulate it even if it isn't. I don't ever partake in tea-bagging as I find it a crude, disgusting activity that demonstrates the worst of the gaming community.

To be honest, I don't mind teabagging(ingame). It can even be kind of hilarious on my end, being teabagged that is. A well placed teabag after getting owned is always fair, while not overdoing it and not being a douchebag about killing people and teabagging them.

Last example was my friends footage of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare where I had said(in the footage) that that game was particularly good for teabagging because of the crouching animation. He then cuts to some recording he took months ago of a guy who absolutely murdered him(my friend) and then proceeds to initiate the laughter with his character while crouching repeatedly on my face of my friend's dead body.

I usually avoid taunting/teabagging. I try to send a vibe of "Yeah you aren't important. I don't even acknowledge your existence. You're just an obstacle to mow down.

I'll put it this way: I once (and ONLY once) pulled off Dan's Epic Taunt in SFIV.

And it was the MOST GLORIOUS THING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN ANYTHING EVER.

Other than that, it's a decent way to spend your time while you wait for your opponent to get off the floor.

I never taunt. I find it offensive. In fact, I become so mad when someone taunts me in a SF4 match, that I pull out some unknown shit that usually wins me the match. More often than not, I win against someone who's taunted me.

Silly man! Everyone knows that you shouldn't taunt on an opponent's wake-up in SF4! That's when you'll be setting up one of your bazillion unblockables!

I like taunts. They are fun and if you are stomping hard enough to have the time to taunt and not get punished then I think you deserve to taunt them a bit :p

Even better if the taunt can count as a hit and you get taunt combos.

Hmmm.

Taunting is part of the deal and opens up strategies and ways of having an impact on your enemy. It is, in MtG terms, a mostly blue thing. In Battleforge, it would be a purple classic when used correctly.

Most people use taunts wrong, so the majority of folks that do not use them themselves will have a completely wrong understanding of how they are supposed to work.

Also, taunting is not quite the same as 'tea-bagging'. Taunting can be done in style and with no detrimental effect on honour. Tea-bagging always racks up some negative karma points worthy of testicular cancer.

I like to punish taunting enemies. If I risk too much and get pummeled in the process, I made mistakes, and they do it right. When I taunt the taunter it's usually to make them change their stance, make a mistake or break the game with me in unison and perfect harmony.

You have never played Samurai Spirits or The Last Blade, I take it?

You slam the "backwards" direction as you rise. I don't encounter all that many unblockables, but I never said I was great at Street Fighter...

I play Dan in SSF4. The purpose of a taunt to me is not to anger my opponent, but to break the tension in a serious situation. Like when an opponent and I both chose Ryu and instead of doing anything on the third round, we abused the cracked-out-fast ducking animation to superduck in time with Ryu's theme. It was hilarious!

I only taunt if I'm playing with friends and we both acknowledge that taunting is allowed. At that point, it doesn't feel so unsportsmanlike, just us displaying our often-times cruel sense of humor to the other one. However, if a friend doesn't like it or if I'm playing with random people I don't really know, then I won't use it. In the former case, it is unsportsmanlike, and in the latter case, they'll likely take it as unsportsmanlike conduct, as they probably wouldn't understand any of the humor behind it and how I'm not that kind of person.

As far as teabagging, let me just say this: If you see me teabagging, assume my account was hacked! I can't stand it, at all. It is the most childish-looking, pathetic way I can think of to demean an opponent, and few things give me as much joy as to kill the guy currently teabagging my corpse. Not to mention, the people I know who teabag are a constant reminder to me of why the FPS community is right up there with MOBA and fighting communities in terms of how truly unpleasant their players can be to play with at times.

They're fun to use :D

If I'm getting my arse handed to me, then I get a second wind and proceed to win what my opponent thought was a sure thing, a taunt is nice little thing to rub salt in the wounds :D

Plus, hatemail is just fun to reply to.

I don't play fighting games, but in TF2 taunting is pretty fun. One of my favorite passtimes is running in front of an enemy, taunting, and seeing how many of them are cool enough to taunt back.

Taunting after a kill is actually looked down upon as n00bish though, the idea being if you consider any single kill "special" enough to taunt, you're probably just not getting enough kills.

I don't usually do taunts unless I do something amazing, like a perfect on UMVC3, or double flawless on Mortal Kombat (In that case, I do a fatality), or a triple kill on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

I NEVER teabag though. That's just rude and immature.

I've never used it, but I suppose it could goad a defensive player into taking a few risks and opening himself up to attack.

I don't taunt (doesn't achieve anything) except in Smash Bros (because it's mandatory to demand people show you their moves), but I always get a laugh out of people who try to make it into some sort of "honour" thing. It's a taunt button in a video game. There's no honour or dishonour, someone is taking a moment to stop beating you up and do a random fluff action. It's utterly meaningless and it's hilarious so many people try to impose their imaginary code of conduct on others.

People would taunt a little bit in the arcades after coming up with a killer move or something like that. To taunt digitally is no different really.

I've never been into taunting, even when it serves a purpose. You can taunt in Vesperia and supposedly that does something for the character you're using.

I have no idea what Teebaging is though. Shouldn't it be Tea bagging?

I try not to let it bug me, but whenever I run into someone who taunts, especially if they do it constantly once they find out they are the better player, it gets very annoying and I just stop and think... this guy is an asshole. I find that it detracts. I think guilty gear had two kinds of taunts, actual taunts, and the other was saying 'well done' I thought that was a pretty cool thing to do.

Personally, I have no issue at all with taunt buttons/features. Is it a dedicated troll button? Sure, but seeing as you rarely see them in any sort of competitive play unless someone's truly getting bodied (and even then, not often) I fail to see the issue.

As for me personally, I don't use them simply because I never really think about it. I started playing fighters before there was such a thing and never integrated them into my play at all. I do, however, relish the occasional use of a jab to finish someone off. The crumple animation that accompanies it in some games is quite enjoyable.
