I'll fight any game, if you think a WiiU disc can take me, you're a scrub. I've fought terabyte steam libraries before, it only took my 20 minutes.

As for the genre? I'm crap at it, lack of practice I suppose.

I generally prefer my fighting games to be locked to two dimensions of movement (Soul Calibur being the exception).
However, I'm indifferent to if the models are 2D sprites or 3D models.
Ninja'd!

OT: I mostly end up playing 2D fighters, anyway... There are certain 3D fighters I will try to avoid to the best of my ability... *stares at UMVC3*
But, for the most part, the latest Street Fighter IV (that my friend bought after playing one of the arcade versions of Street Fighter II at a pizza place) and Tekken I'm fine with playing casually... So far, only Persona 4 Arena, Blazblue, and Skullgirls (all 2D fighters) do I even remotely play competitively... I suck competitively, mind you, but I stopped caring after the first cancel and/or counter...

Talim; Kilik; Maxi; Xiba*; Sophitia*; Xianghua* (Soul Calibur)
Noel; Makoto; Taokaka; Bang^; Litchi*; Lambda-11*; Jin* (Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend)
Ms. Fortune; Peacock; Valentine; Cerebella* (Skullgirls)
Yukiko; Yosuke; Teddie; Aigis* (Persona 4 Arena)
And, to add to that particular list:

Mr. Game & Watch; R.O.B.; Mewtwo*; Zero Suit Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
Phoenix Wright; Deadpool; Rocket Raccoon (Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3)
Rainbow Dash (Fighting is Magic)

Other than that, I only choose "random" if I'm playing Smash Bros. at somebody's party, I'm playing someone else's copy of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, or I'm playing a different fighting game for the first time...
Other than all that, I have bought Skullgirls (and all of its current DLC) for both PS3 and PC because I'm addicted to Skullgirls from a fighting game perspective (and I will be buying Skullgirls 2nd Encore for the PS4 I don't have when it comes out), I miss playing against my best friend in Soul Calibur II for the GameCube, and I have been neglecting the online side of every single one of the fighting games I do have/play in general...

I like them, but I never get my money's worth out of them, since I don't do online multiplayer.

I quite like my fighting games, especially spectacle fighters like Mortal Kombat, makes me feel like I'm a roman watching gladiator games except only virtual people get gruesomely beaten up/killed.

Otherwise I'm very much a casual player, don't really bother with anything else but simple combos so can never be a competitive online fighter, but then I don't want to be, in my experience communities in online fighting games are pointlessly nasty and get butthurt easily if you don't beat them according to some code of honor everyone neglected to mention to you (i.e: when i played online in mk9, my main was Jade and my strategy with her was to keep opponents at medium ranges with my pole and ranged attacks, doing my best not to let enemies close the gap. Literally every game I'd play, regardless of winning or losing, I'd get an angry pm and even the occasional death threat.) so I avoid online fighting most of the time and just stick to playing solo.

Of course without the multi, this means I tend to tire of fighting games quite fast unless they got a beefy story mode or equivalent (soul calibur series did this best from what I remember).

I'm not very good at them, but I like them... my partner is big into them so that encourages me to try and get better...
My personal favorites are Blazblue, Killer Instinct and Darkstalkers.

Mainly play the Guilty Gear games myself nowadays, in particular Dust Strikers and Accent Core Plus.
Used to play Tekken 3 alot when I was younger, only Tekken I actually enjoyed.

As for Skullgirls, even on easy it knows how to kick your ass 7 ways into tomorrow, even if its tutorial is supposed to help.

I don't mind fighting games, but I don't really like them much anymore. As I've aged, I've come to realize I don't like competitive sports/games very much. Especially in video games, the amount of frustration, and asshattery that is generated when two gamers (or teams of gamers) go against each other is personally very unappealing. I prefer games that are cooperative in nature, where all(or most) of the humans playing in that session are on the same side, attempting to accomplish something. Like Evolve, or Payday 2, or L4D2, etc.

Fighting games don't fall into the coop category. So personally I don't play them anymore. I don't have a problem with them as a concept, I just personally don't enjoy playing them anymore.

I really like fighting games. I always especially liked characters fighting games have: they are colourful, memorable and no matter the game, yo will always find at least one you like.

As for the games themselves, well, I used to play many of them and a lot of time, but now I switched almost completely to other genres. Fighting games demand a lot of time and I, while do like them, do not wish to spend this time on one game if I can play many others and get as much fun. But I still watch tourneys and I will probably buy MKX when/if NetherRealms completely fixes PC version (I'd get PS4 version, but alas I do not have said console).

EDIT: Dummy! Forgot to meantion those that I like. I always liked the OG of GF Street Fighter, but I also like King of Fighters. I think I'd also love MvC3 if it wast so fast-paced and combo-heavy.
