I haven't seen "Escape from LA" yet but don't tell me "Escape from New York" was bad. It is goofy at times, and the one-liners can be cringe-worthy, but that's by design. John Carpenter knew exactly what he was doing, and he's got a quirky sense of humor. Just see "Big Trouble in Little China" to understand where he's coming from. Besides, it was a pretty good action movie regardless of heavy-handedness and intentional camp.Dirty Hipsters said:"Escape from New York" and "Escape from LA." Also since we're on a Nicholas Cage kick in this thread, "Drive Angry."
Another thing; everyone mentioning those movies like "Dinocroc" and "Megacrab vs. Giant Sharktopus" or whatever, yes, those movies are terribly entertaining to watch, but they are terrible on purpose. No one at the SciFi Channel (I will NOT call it SyFy) sits down to plan these films thinking that they are creating actual quality. They realize the market for so bad it's good films and they are cornering it. Not that I'm saying you're wrong, really, but how bad can these movies be when they are accomplishing exactly what they intended?
That being said, has anyone here seen "Moby Dick 2010?" I don't know who made it, but it's along the lines of SciFi Originals. It's Barry Bostwick playing a modern Ahab, captaining a military submarine, hunting a 500 foot long whale. At the end, the whale jumps onto the land and flops around in an unforgettable special effect sequence until the entire cast is dead. It's something I wish I had never seen, but can't seem to stop laughing about.
