So yeah, what Im talking about are films that run pureley on nostalga

Now I think this is an incredibly hard thing to judge because some of my absolute nostalgic favorites I still feel are really good films (Hunchback of notredame).... how ever its impossible to tell how I would feel about the original Tneeage Mutant ninja turtles movie (1990) If I watched it for the first time today

I think Id still like it but mabye I wouldnt hold it to such a high regard

though I can think of two examples

1. Atlantis- there are alot of good things about this movie, and it was cool when I was a kid (that said I actually disliked the charachters for being too "silly" especially mole)

how ever watching it now there are just too many plot holes and flaws to find it enjoyable (and thats not being nitpicking...I think the general rule is if you notice it when you fisrt watch the move and it bothers you then its a valid complaint)

2. Ok main example, its a somwhat obscure movie in the Star wars universe Called "Caravan of Courage" though I think it went by another name in th US or somthing

it was all about ewoks, two kids stranded on the ewok planet, looking for their parents ewoks help them

I rewatched a bit on youtube a while ago and...well the acting wasnt as great as I remeber and the effects were a little silly

Surf Ninjas.

I LOVED that movie as a kid. Rented it all the time. Tried to watch it again a few years ago, and way cheesier than I remembered.

Princess Bride and that one with Atreyu, both movies I missed as a kid and just didn't care for as an adult. Of course everyone else I know consider them childhood treasures.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension.

The weirdest low budget/high priced cast I can remember from the 1980's. If you doubt me go look it up its like a who's who of 80's movies wrapped in a campy movie. Its pretty good as a campy movie, but as a kid you don't think about that.

All I can think of is the juvenile trash (it's my opinion) that is the Saw series. These films are fine as a young teen, but they're downright terrible (once again, my humble opinion).

There was an animated Sonic The Hedgehog movie that came out a very long time ago. Me and my brother saw it again a couple of months ago. Fuck it bad. Like. Awful. Horrible. Abominable. But it was still enjoyable because of the magic of nostalgia glasses.

Star Wars Episode 1
Good answer - I remember seeing it when I was 10 and thinking it was awesome...that opinion has changed drastically as I've grown older and more cynical.

Princess Bride is a freaking classic though. I can understand Neverending story. I saw that as a kid and it's one of my least favorite movies of all time, only being surpassed by The Indian in the Cupboard.

OT: I have no idea, a lot of the movies I see as good, I never saw in my childhood.

The Last Starfighter... great movie as a kid. I think it's still okay as an adult, but it's mostly for nostalgic reasons I think.

Assuming you're talking about the Japanese OVAs that ADV edited into a movie, that was one of my most-watched things as a kid, and it was freaking awesome. I'm sure it doesn't hold up quite as well today, but it was pretty badass. The second American animated series based on Sonic was also quite good.

OT: The prequel Star Wars trilogy. As kids we simply didn't know...WE DIDN'T KNOOOOOOOOOW!
