I 100% second this. Ang Lee's Hulk is a spectacle to behold, in both a good and bad way. If you can let some of the crazy silliness slide, you have a truly entertaining and emotional action epic. The fight scene in the desert is one of the best in any movie I can remember. Really, it's sequel is a flat formulaic bore by comparison.Casual Shinji said:Ang Lee's Hulk.
The story was unnecessarily convoluted, the comic panel style was a giant blunder, and some of the acting was cringeworthy to a fault. Yet I still kind of like it, and most definately prefer it over The Incredible Hulk.
Star Trek: Nemesis. It's been almost universally panned by everyone and I have no clue why. It's a fun movie with an interesting villain, some clever twists, and a sweet final battle sequence. Sure it takes a few too many obvious cues from Wrath of Khan, like...
Data sacrificing himself the way Spock did.
But there are a lot worse movies it could be taking inspiration from.
Pirates: At World's End Ask anyone what they hated about that movie, they'll say it's plot was too convoluted and hard to follow. Nevermind the fact that this could also be said of most Christopher Nolan movies, the plot really isn't even that complex, and you don't need to completely understand every detail of it to enjoy the movie either. The third pirates movie has more action, more humor, and more drama than either of the first two. And it's musical score is simply beautiful, probably one of the best soundtracks period.
Matrix Reloaded: People say the 2 Matrix sequels are bad, but really it's Revolutions that they're thinking of. Reloaded, in it's own right was a decent, I'll even say worthy, successor to the original. It maintains the level of action and mystery that made the original good while introducing creative and interesting new concepts, characters, and lore. It's only because Reloaded leads directly into Revolutions that people have trouble separating them, but if Revolutions had been good Reloaded wouldn't be getting the shit it is today.
