Hi guys, i'm just starting off Final Fantasy 13 (so no spoilers please) and i just want to know;

Is there anything that i need to do or not do whilst playing through?
i.e. in FF12 there was a set of treasure chests which, if opened, would mean that you couldn't get the ultimate lance in the game.

Also, is there anywhere that has important stuff that i can't go back to after completing the game?

Thanks.

Well technically you could still get the Zodiac Spear, it was just an arse to get because there was a 10% chance that it the chest would spawn, a 10% that that chest would have an item and a 10% chance that that item was, in fact, the Zodiac Spear, and the run to the zone-exit was a good 60-90 seconds of twists and turns, so it was a bit of a kick in the crotch to grind out.

As for secrets you can miss: No, not really. There is a couple of items you can't get more than once which I'll double check on, but I do know they're accessories and I'm pretty sure they have an elemental-attribute to their names.

As a general rule you probably want to hang on to most of your accessories and equipment in general anyway in case you ever want to go after the Treasure Hunter achievement. Easier to make a list of what you have and what you will need that way.

I'm going to recommend you get the strategy guide. FF13 has some insanely difficult enemies and bosses. There were multiple times I had to resort to using the guide to figure out how to beat an enemy. Especially the Eidolon battles.

Oh and when you arrive on Grand Pulse, avoid anything big. General rule: If it looks too big to handle... it is. This even goes for behemoths. And because of how the game caps your strength, even if you did max out your stats at that point, it would still be completely impossible to beat some of the enemies there.

nope, the entire first half the game is all extremely linear to the point where you CAN NOT MISS ANYTHING.
then the entire second half is all based around side quests and grind. the only way to miss any is if you wanted to, and frankly I couldn't blame you if you did.

Yes!
Don't sell anything (If you want to 100%) unless you have doubles of it or in the description it says "Can be sold for a premium"

Good luck I liked FF13 despite all the hate.

10-2 was just an excuse to see how many different hot pants Yuna and Rikku could get into.
12....I don't want to talk about it...Please. I have nightmares about that damn Rabbit thing

Say what you like about X-2's awful story, annoying music, blatant fanservice and oh-so-facepalm inducing "GIRL POWER!" theme infesting the narrative like a cancerous tumour, but the combat system and garment grid system was really quite enjoyable. It combined the class/job system with the flexibility of the FFX character-switch system as well as rewarding you for changing Jobs during battle thanks to Garment bonuses, culminating into their ultimate dress sphere things.

As I said, pretty much everything else about the game was awful but I really did like the combat system >.>;

Never did I complain about the hot pants thing. Kept me going.

Battle system was great. The more I think about it...

Damn Might have to play it again now.

the only i could really recommend is that you fix Vanille's robot dog thing for the prizes but most likely you've already done this

I think the elemental rings (clay ring, ember ring, frost ring, spark ring etc.) are the only goodies you can't get in post-game play. If you want 100% completion you'll need to hang on to those. You can only get them from chests, so don't miss those.

If the path slipts take the dead end first, normally theres treasure at the end.

Also dont bother reading the codex crap you get, it doesnt make sense anyway...

At least, you see there's some kind of though behind those game.
The story is dumb and uninvolving. Exposition come from either a thesaurus or you own damn crazy imagination. They dress Vanille with as much clothing as Rikku from 10-2 but got her more annoying then Tidus, Cloud, Sephiroth and Squall OR as I like to call them all, the Issue team.
Tidus:"Why won't you love me daddy?" *burst in tears*
Cloud:" Who am i?" *Burst in tears*
Sephiroth:" Mother, look at me mom!" *Burst in tears*
Squall:" Why won't nobody like me?" *Burst in tears*
But hey, Sulking heroes work back then, so they make all of 13 characters like that.

It a fucking nightmare on paper and worst that the product exist in real life.
