Ahh, I miss the days of multiple discs. Reminds me of Final Fantasy's glory years.

Please insert disk 2.

Any idea on PS3 yet? It's so annoying having to change disk mid-game. FFVII had 4 which was pretty bad and Escape to Monkey Island 2 on the Amiga had ... 12!

That's perfectly fin. It means there'll be much more content and much better quality graphics and sound than the earlier games, which we knew from the start. I'm really looking forward to this, though I still hope they ship the cut content as DLC at some point (an FF game with DLC! Now THAT's edgy :D).

I honestly don't mind multi-disc games. I'd even be happy to see a multi-disc version of Heavy Rain on Xbox 360, instead of it being PS3 exclusive. I don't care about plenty of discs as long as the game itself is worth playing...

Should be good then!
FF7-9 all had 3 discs IIRC.

Been forever and a day since I played any of them though, so I could easily be wrong.

FF8 had 4 discs as did FF9.

Wasn't this established months ago?

I'll be getting this on PS3 anyway so I only have to worry about the one disc, also the PS3 one comes with better graphics so that's more incentive for me to stick with Sony.

As long as you don't switch them Legend of Dragoon style.

Each section of the map was on different discs, so at the end of the game, you still might need Disc 1 when backtracking.

ARGH! I'm fine if its only changing discs a few times.

I like mutiple disks as long as it's done better than Baldur's Gate with the expansion.

I hated multiple disks for the ps1, but thats because my ff7 was a little messed up. My console would freeze at the same times every time it got to those point, right before the cutscenes. I would just switch disks even before you were supposed to and it would still continuously play the game even on the wrong disk, but i missed half the cutscenes.

This is old news isn't it?

And after the disc swapping in Mass Effect 2, I'll definitely be buying this on the PS3. One disc is enough for me thank you.

I'm fine with this. Hell, I don't even remember changing discs on Mass Effect 2, and Final Fantasy 8 and 9 had four discs.

As long as they do it in a way that it does not interrupt gameplay, I feel that it's fine.

I'll be getting the PS3 version, but that decision was more due to the fact that the PS3 version will have a Japanese audio track. I've never found FF games to be stellar in terms of voice work, and since I always put subtitles on anyways, I may as well go with the version that has 1 disc and more tolerable voice acting.

They all had four, though each disc contained a large amount, and you kind of knew when a disc change was coming up. I prefer to think of them as serials, or episodic, if you will.

Why is everyone complaining? Would you rather it be cut down to one disk worth of content?

Also, Lost Odyssey had 4 disks, and changing disks and loading probably added about a minute to the games overall time, if that!

I have all three games sitting beside me right now. FFVII has 3 discs, FFVIII and IX have 4.

As for disc swapping itself: it's fine by me as long as you only have to do it once for each disc, and it only happens after some sort of mini-climax in the story.

As long as it isn't Like Star Ocean 4 where I had to keep switching discs I don't care to switch discs. I always feel like I'm getting a longer game even if I'm not.
