I wont lie - i loved Final Fantasy 8. When it came out, i played it with my friend, who lent it to me before having to steal it back when i wouldn't give it back. Then i went into withdrawal until i scrounged up enough cash to buy the Platinum version. Many lost hours later, i wrote four epic fanfics before Real Life caught up to me.

Anyways, i was winding down after spending the whole day playing Bayonetta - that game is exhausting! - and i decided to peruse the Playstation Network before i went to bed.

And what was staring at me in the Whats New section but FFVIII.

I damn near wept. Now i can play it on the PSP to my heart's content, when i want, where i want! BOOYAH!!

... *composes self*

Anyways, anybody else as excited about this as i was? Last time i was that excited was when i got the MW2 Prestige Edition...but that turned out to be a bit of a letdown.

I'm happy that you're happy, but since I lost my psn card, I'm not really happy, which makes me sad, because I lied to you, and now we're both confused.

The only happy thing about FF8 being on the PSN for me is that it means that FF9 will come out in due time. FF8 can go burn in the deepest pits of video game hell for all I care. Although my jaw dropped last night when I wan on IGN and they mentioned that Armored Core 2 was on the PSN...I got it today, FUCK YES!!.

Now...where the hell is Vagrent Story, legend of Dragoon, Xenogears and all the other GOOD JRPG's. Oh well, AC2: Silent Line certainly brightened up my day...time to finish AC3 so I can import my save :)

That was the first and, at the moment, only game I've purchased on PSN. I can't wait to see if they make Final Fantasy IX available ^^

My thoughts upon seeing this thread title were "if lordlee wasn't suspended right now, he would be all over this, and not in a good way."

Personally, if I were to download it, it would be to see what the big, multi-part Spoony rant-inducing deal was.

As much as I enjoyed VIII I can't imagine trying to play it on a hand-held, especially when I've still got my disks and they still work.

I LOVED Final Fantasy VIII... one of the biggest travesties in the history in gaming to me is that this game does NOT get anywhere NEAR the credit it deserves.

In my opinion it was the BEST of the Final fantasy series on the PS1 and arguably the best in the entire collection. While Cloud and Sephiroth get all the fanboys, Final Fantasy VIII to me had the deepest characters in any final fantasy series excluding IX, the story was an epic, sweeping emotional romance.

Did anyone actually shed a real tear during Final Fantasy VII? Probably not. But even though I'm a pretty macho guy, I did get choked up at several sections of Final Fantasy VIII, and I remember having REAL tears and dropping my controller when Squall gets blasted by that ice lance, falling over that ledge in slow motion away from Rinoa as she reaches for him, her tears glittering in the wind..

That game is and will probably remain the height of video game cinematic story-telling to me, because it combined EVERY element of a great rpg that you could ask for... from it's cinematography, to story, to memorable and deep characters, a swell combat system, epic adventure, stand-up and cheer moments, dire enemies, heroic moments, sweeping score..

And of course, the ever awesome "gun-blade".
Also, the limit breaks were supreme.. Irvine is the man.

Pretty sure i spotted Vargent Story at the bottom of the PSOne section in the PSN. Check it out!

ok if i remember correctly i made this post about... umm... a month ago so why dont you check the posts next time, ok?
Heh, sorry, but if it was a month ago then it would be pretty well buried, not to mention i didn't start posting until about two weeks ago... plus i was a little emotional, plus i'm a little lazy and dont like digging through a month of topics. *shrugs* Sorry!

Yeah, but now i can play it in bed...or in the toilet...or during my lunch break...or when we're on a long drive...

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't get it, as I have a physical copy, but the thought is nice.

FFVIII really wasn't my favourite, mostly because the main character was a little emo kid.
