Final Fantasy Characters you hate

When I dislike a character he automaticaly becomes one of my backups,exept if the character is any good and/or if the characters I like are bad.
Example: in FF9 I realy liked Amarant (?),not that his story is good just plain like him, but he had to go to my backup pile because his first techs are realy bad and his stronger techs eighter don't work on bosses or simply don't fit in my tactics.

So here goes:
-FF4: Bartz because he was the *drifting hero* type of character.

-FF5: Cecil for being plain overpowered and not trying to hinder his friends when they sacrifice themselves.

-FF6: Gau and that Yeti guy...just plain stupid characters...whit all the characters in the game these two where completely avoidable (storywise) and useless...altho the thief guy from the begining was also useless later on.

-FF7: Never played it but from videos I've seen and judging from Advent Children I'd have to say Cloud...He's just too much of a loner/whiner.

-FF8: Rinoa, Irvine , Selphie because every character can fill any given role(thus why I didn't use them) and also Zell (?) because he was annoying.

-FF9: Quinna for being completely useless story wise and ocasionaly Eiko (for being plain anoying) and Steiner (at the start begining of the game).

-FF10: Wakka (only reason I ever used him was to fight flying monsters) and Khimari because I can't figure out how to use him and for being so passive.

-FF12: The whole cast of main characters...I've put the game away because of them.

Just like Tidus and Wakka from X. And Ashe and Penelo from XII. They became so useless and annoying to manage.

I think I'll just go ahead and say all of them...yup. I hate them all equally. Well I'll make exceptions for some of the villians because some of them are indeed badass but I do hate everyone else.

All the main characters in FF1, for being utterly generic mute fantasy heroes whose only contribution to the story is shuffling items between various NPCs and killing things. Mute fantasy heroes in RPGs drive me nuts. That Chrono was a MFH my only real complaint about Chrono Trigger, which is otherwise one of the best RPGs, if not the best RPG on the SNES). I just can't sympathize with a main character that doesn't have any dialogue besides sword swings and emotional gesture animations (and the FF1 guys didn't even have the gestures).

I seriously don't understand how the whole mute protagonist thing is supposed to work. At first I thought the idea was that the player was supposed to substitute their own musings for the protagonists', but that didn't really make sense to me because the other characters are always going to do their own thing no matter what I think.

Oh yeah, and all the FF1 heroes on the original NES edition were PITIFULLY weak at the start of the game. As I recall, I couldn't even get to the first dungeon because every single monster battle would kill at least one of my characters and then I had to pay out the ass to get them revived at the temple. Unable to upgrade any of my equipment, I would just keep getting my ass handed to me until I lost the game. I think the GBA remake was a lot easier though.

And I hated Yuna from FFX because she was bland and whiny and pathetic. Maybe it was just the english dub, but I didn't really get attached to her in the way I did with, say, Aeris from FFVII (or even Tifa; and you know you're in bad shape when Tifa's got you beat). I preferred Rikku, if for no other reason than fetish appeal (jailbait mechanical geek that she was).

I would be more tolerant of Final Fantasy characters in general if I didn't know that within a month of the most recent release there would be cosplayers.

While I have learned to dislike Cloud, my friend recently played through VII and I realized that he was actually likeable sometimes. I blame the fanbase that turned Cloud into a mopey Mary Sue and Advent Children for reinforcing that image (dammit I hated that movie).

Otherwise, the people I hated:

Nobody from IV. Nobody. Game was golden.

Nobody from VI either, but I haven't beaten it.

I genuinely hated Cait Sith (for ruining his own somewhat touching death scene).

Ugh...VIII is my least favourite Final Fantasy, save for the ones that don't actually have a plot (I and III). Nobody in that cast was interesting longer than a few minutes. Then they started trying to develop. *sigh*

IX...had Quina and Amarant.

X had Auron. Which disappoints me, because I think that he could have been something given the glimpses of him from his Jecht and Braska days. But in-game, he was blank and uninteresting.

Tidus had some issues in the beginning, but I thought he really warmed up by the end.

In XII, I'll repeat the cries of "Vaan, Vaan." because not only was he a useless protagonist, he stole the spotlight from Basch, who was originally the protagonist but Squenix decided that a 35-year-old main character was gonna turn off their target demographic. *twitch*

I hate Vaan. He's a pussy. The end. I don't know if i've ever hated a character more than Vaan. I mean Tidus comes pretty close, but i'd GLADLY hang out with Tidus (cry baby), Cloud (emo twat), and Squall (mr. angstface) for a month NON-STOP than spend even 5 MINUTES with Vaan.

FFX - Tidus and Seymore, one is a whiney little runt with daddy issues, the other turns up everywhere guaranteed like a bad smell. Oh, and Seymore had cheap tactics of killing my aeons... bastard.

FFXII - Vaan, see above without the daddy issues. He is also not necessary after Lushu Mines.

Steiner kinda gets to me occasionally for being a ignorant prick to people but then again he a nice foil for Zidane. So yeah Steiner bugs me.

Cloud, and if you try to deny the fact that hes annoying, then I declare you a fanboy.

To be honest in this point in time I think everyone hates cloud because he in fact is the most emo character ever plus let face it his name is incredibly stupid too.

I don't hate Cloud, don't love him either, but he has a few reasons to be depressed like losing a girl he loves, finding out his life was a lie, watching his hero do god awful things etc.

But still being a main character he could have had a better attitude rather than the whole my life has no meaning out look to him. Plus playing FF7 even though he was the highest level character he still seemed to die the most and was kinda useless most of the time. I don't know I just think for a main character they could have made him a lot better.

I would of said FF8 Squall was a lot more emo, with a sillier name, but thats just me, Fanboy

back to subject at hand, most annoying, Barret is one, dont know why, just seemed to do bugger all damage, best I could do with him each time was give him cover materia and let him soak up the attacks

All the emo wangst of FFX could have been avoided if either of them explained their plans at all to anyone. Ever.

Oh, god. The frickin' laughing scene. That was shortly before I stopped playing. I never liked the story or characters, but that was a new low.

I've only ever played FF X, but I'm familiar with FF VIII's story and characters. Every character in Final Fantasy VIII is just god-awful.
As for X, Wakka because he kept yammering on and on about Blitzball, and then forced me to play it, which should be punishable by law. Though I guess I got back at him by losing the game real hard.
Then there's Tidus. I just hate Tidus. Partly for going along with Wakka's bullshit, but mostly because he's a total dumbass and a massive wanker. The aforementioned laughing scene alone is enough of a reason. Also Yuna to a lesser extent, for that same reason.
I'm sure other characters from that game would have pissed me off if I kept playing.

Tidus. He's just such a PAB i mean crying? No FF Character cryed in the end! Or for that matter in any part of the game... Hell even cloud didn't cry tears of sorrow when Aeris died! He was just plain pissed off that Sephiroth did! Tidus is a wuss and that makes me hate him. Also Seymor from FF10 BECAUSE he is just a Sephiroth wannabe. As for FF12 i found that i really didn't like Vayne he's kinda a douce.
