Good movie, I especially liked the character redesigns. Tifa, your boobs don't seem to be too large for your spine to conceivably support anymore! Hurray!

I might go for the flame award, but AC somehow wasn't my cup of tea, although I actually liked The Spirits Within.

Thinking about it, the graphical style in AC was too cold for my taste.
I somehow got the impression that everything happens in a big fridge (I know that this sounds strange). Even worse, the development of the story is lacking, too, which left me with the impression that AC is a movie that was composed of individual cutscenes.

I am by no means a film critic and there might be people around that can explain the reasons a lot better, but all in all, AC just seemed like a big fanservice act to me. FF7 actually had some diverse characters with individual traits and interesting backstory. In AC however, there are quite a few scenes that left me with the impression that some storywriter was just thinking "oh, let's just throw in some random cameo - the fans will love it".

So after all, I was left with the feeling to have watched some nicely done CGI scenes tucked together to fill a DVD, where Spirits Within at least managed to get me believe that I am actually watching a consistent movie.

Here you go with my 2 cents, don't spend it all on icecream.

Watched it some 25 times at least (in Japanese). Loved it too much.

I hadn't played FFVII before I watched it, but i knew bits of the story from here & there over the days such that Advent Children's story actually made sense.

Whatever I didn't know story-wise I could fill it in with my imagination, which turns out to be pretty close to the actual thing most of the time. It's a skill that comes with having watched tons of anime & other Japanese entertainment.

After watching it I played the game, & it was pretty wikked... & dramatic (in a good way).

The story of the film was a little lacking compared to the game, three guys appear ressurect sephiroth then cloud kills them all. If you ignore that the fight scenes are some of the best iv'e ever seen with great music playing through all the scenes.
Then just a minor geek piont, what happened to cait sith's big white teddy bear :(

They were all evil, weren't they?

I read someone upset about the Nanaki character's lack of speech. While I agree, he should've had more than one line, my memory of the character leaves him as very reserved and quiet after the events of VII. I'd still love to see a sequel film of IX though

It would of been better if it was actually based on the game's timeperiod/Story line.
instead it's set at a different time. and it's hard to explain some of the stuff on the movie to someone who never played the game. it was good, though.

That's alittle vague, what do you mean. If you mean the teddy, how can that be evil it was just a teddy

I think it was mechanical.
Possibly another form the Sephiroth clones took?
I can't really remember, it's been quite a while since I last played.

The teddy was controlled by cait sith who was controlled by the one guy from shinra who had a concience. I forget his name I think It was Tseng. He started as a spy for shinra then switched sides

I'm an FFVII fan. But I guess I didn't enjoy the movie as much because I expected too much out of it :S

How DARE they give Nanaki ONE line? ONE! Throughout the entire frakkin' movie! O_O
I agree, Nanaki was my fav character from FFVII. But the reason they didnt give him more lines or put him in the movie more, was because animating his fur cost too much and was too time consuming. Same reason why he wasnt in Dirge of Cerberus.

Edit: Love Tifa's fight. she does about 3 or 4 of her limits in it. But i think the Bahumut or Sephiroth fights take the center stage
I too, was crushed by Nanaki's lack of screen time in this film. Action was top notch, but Nanaki... T_T

It is a great movie that I have only one beef with. It killed FF7 for me. It made a movie that was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time. However it depicted Cloud as a whiny Emo ***** and got a ton of people thinking that they know everything about the plot. You need to play the game to really get the movie. The only reason being the reminisce gives you only the bare bones of the story, not the finite details or the back story of all the characters. Thus I have had to explain to a ton of people the whole Hojo,Sephiroth,Vincent thing. Sorry if I ranted on but I loved that game and movie.

I preferred The Spirits Within.

This movie just stinks of fan service and gave an excuse for the people who can't let go of that one game to go on about it even more.
