Final Fantasy X HD Announcement!

Final Fantasy X was just recently announced for both the PS3 and PSVITA in HD.
However, no more details are known at this time.

So what do you guys think?
Day one purchase for you?
Playing the game for the first time?

When I read the announcement, I was literally shaking it was that exciting.
This has got to be for me the best announcement in gaming for a long time (possibly the best ever) for me. And it's the first game I've been REALLY hyped about since the disappointment that was XIII, I've found it hard to by hyped about anything for fear that it's going to suck.

I love Final Fantasy X as it's not only my favourite Final Fantasy but, it's also my favourite game of all time. I'm up to my third copy of the game. The first was a present from my parents for my birthday years ago after asking for it but was ruined when a friend borrowed it. He got me a replacement copy but, last year found that the original release came with a DVD that had interviews on it so I purchased a third copy off of eBay.

I'll be purchasing this on day one and I can't wait for this to be released. Now I'm just hoping though that Square Enix don't make any negative changes to the game. A look at their recent track record says that they'll probably screw this up one way or another.

Isn't this just a massive finger to all the people who want an FF7 Remake?

OT: I would consider getting it if I had a PS3, but I don't.
I'm fine with the PS2 version anyway, It's good enough.

Granted FFX-2 and FFXII were pretty damn horrible, but if that's the case then I expect it to be really cheap.

Yes...Yes I think it is. Well it isn't like they're remaking 8 or 9. Of course the FF-Rhythm game is also considered a finger to fans if Famitsu is to be believed.

As for FFXHD...no thanks. I'll grab the PS2 one and get through that one. Or...I'll try to. I tried playing through it once but didn't make it too far. I still need to play 12 as well.

As much as I love FFX, aren't the graphics good enough? I think a remake of 6/7/8/9 would be a lot more beneficial!

Still....I'll probably buy it nevertheless....just like I'mm by the Resident Evil remakes, despite the fact that RE4 HD looks essentially the same...

this 95% of cutscenes instead of gameplay.

Actually, the game took about 55 hours for me to beat, 5 or so of those hours were cut scenes.
I really don't see why so many people insult Final Fantasy games all the time saying they're nothing but cut scenes when in reality they have a huge amount of hours that are purely gameplay.

I bought FFVII as my first Final Fantasy game on the PSN and gave it about 90 mins but I couldn't really get into it. I've wanted to try FFX because I thought it might be an easier entry into the series... I guess I'll find out.

I have to ask, seeing as SotC+Ico seem to just be upscaled from screenshots I've seen, unless of course I've only seen the PS2 version screenshots. Will this be a new engine, or will it just look shiny? If it's the latter, fuck this game. Silent Hill HD looks as if the only thing they did was making straight-jackets/patient demons look shinier.

Just look shiny, like all the other HD re-releases. New engine would require that they remake the entire game, wouldn't it?

I won't lie i wasn't buying into FFVII until what happens at the end of disc 1 then i actually got into the game, once you've done with FFX give it another try and see if it draws you in

For the Vita as well? I didn't like 10 as much as alot of the other ones, but it was decent enough. What excites me more is that if the vita can handle an HD version of a PS2 game, that means we may be able to look forward to other PS2 games gracing the handheld market.

I would do..things, for a handheld version of wild arms 3. I really would. or .hack GU, or shadow hearts. Man, I spent atleast half of my teen years playing the crap out of the greatest RPG's to ever grace this earth, all on PS2.

Edit: In all honesty this announcement for me really is all about the potential for a PS2 classics section on the PSN, I'm not really sure I would even be willing to pay money for final fantasy 10 in any version. That sphere grid level system just made me..so sad.

Like hell, those were 2 of the best final fantasies ever made, X-2 quite a bit less than 12. But 12 was a damn masterpiece of RPG gameplay xD. X-2 just had the best adaptation of the final fantasy job system ever, but it's story just fell flat. 12 had a great story, if a little heavy handed, and honestly Vaan was the only major flaw that one really has to atone for.

It's not really an insult. Final Fantasy X still looks decent enough by modern standards, so all Square would really need to do would be to port the engine over to PS3/VITA compatibility while maybe adding some minor visual improvements here and there.

FF7, on the other hand, would all but require the entire game being remade and rebuilt from scratch. It's a big difference.
