I just wish they would remaster all the voice acting. It was painful to play through the game with the atrocious z-class "acting" constantly taking me out of the game and the world.
I discovered upon a recent replay that Wakka, who I found to be the worst of the bad bunch, is significantly more bearable once you know that it's the same voice as Bender and Marcus Fenix.

Tidus was the same voice as Ratchet and Obi-Wan, but he's still coming up in the red every time he opens his mouth.

OT: Square Enix is a big business in a capitalist world. It's main priority is making money. It doesn't matter how many times someone says "There are enough people that would buy it!" or "It's cheaper than making a new game!" Square enix will have looked at it from every angle and if they thought there was money to be made, they would have done it by now. Maybe sometime in the future they could do it, when it's affordable to take a bit more of a risk, but sure as hell won't happen now.

Admitedly I'd prefer a FF 6,7,8 or 9 remake since that would certainly have more effect than remaking X would (FF7 & 9 characters looked like lego and FF6 was 2D!) and you're right OP that FFX doesn't even look dated yet but Im not gonna boycott this just cause its not my preference. FFX is among my favourite games of all time if you didn't guess that by my avatar - so I'll most definitely be pre-ordering this the minute its an option!

EDIT: So long as they re-do the dialogue and do a decent job with it this time, I'll be much happier. Not all of it was bad, but it would just feel a bit weird if they cut and paste the audio into it...

Personally I think that Square-Enix should just go away and die.

I hate to break this to you everyone, but I've two things to say:
1: FFVII wasn't as good as everyone says it was. It was good, but saying the name "Sephiroth" should not induce a boner as big as Sephiroth's Masamune.

2: The Final Fantasy franchise is dead.

and to all the people saying remaking a PSX game is too costly I say look at Resident Evil remake for GameCube or Mega Man X Maverick Hunter remake, both of those games are PSX/SNES games and they both got the full remake treatment and sold really well, hell I bought REmake twice, once for GC once for Wii, still I honestly don't want a remake, I just want them to finish the story, that cliffhanger "secret" ending of DoC has me wanting FFVII-2 more than anything else

now back on topic I don't think FFX needs a remake, I honestly still play the regular version and it looks fine and I still enjoy the battle system and actually leveling up in FF X-2 more, plus gunslinger Yuna always makes my day :)

Keep the Dragon Quest half of Square-Enix though. They're still making good games compared to the Final Fantasy half.

I'll have to take your word on it, I've already washed my hands completely of Square-Enix...but I'd certainly have to hope that DQ couldn't possibly be as bad as the recent assembly-line manufactured FFs they've been crapping out.

:p The funny thing is I haven't played a Final Fantasy (at least not a new one) since FFX-2 which I bought and returned 2 hours later (they let me switch it for something else when I told them the game wouldn't work for some reason :p) and yet just from what I've heard other people say, I know I made the right choice in abandoning the franchise. Are the first 40 hours of FFXIII literally just walking down a hallway? I've heard it described as such but I don't know if people are exaggerating...because the sad thing is I can actually believe it. :p

Let's be honest here too. If Advent Children, Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus are any indication, they'd probably just screw it up anyway. Turn it into a bunch of anime cliches and brooding.
I had more than enough fun with dirge of Cerberus, even though i never played FF7
