Not trying to make you look bad or anything, just thought you knew something that wasn't on the steam page.

On 13....to put it mildly it had a lot of downs, a few ups but god so many downs. I might give it another go if there was Japanese voices just for the pleasure of saying "I got to play FF13 without listening to Vanille's god awful English voice!".

Just in case you're looking to finish it for the story, no it doesn't get any better. Less annoying since Hope kinda fades into the background in the later stages of the game but overall it stays the same uninteresting mess you most likely remember it to be.
click the text that says "See all 8 supported languages"

the game supports the original japanese dub

korean and chinese text is also supported
Awesome, thanks. :D

Nah. Big-name titles often fly up to the top of Top Seller list even while they're just being pre-ordered; Borderlands and Civ: Beyond Earth were both at the top for almost a full week a little while ago.
they were on the front page banner tough, hell they still are

i cant stop being weirded out by these stealth FF releases

FF4 came out without a single announcement and nothing but a banner on the steam front page

FF13 doesnt even have that

i'd buy the entire XIII trilogy for 2.99 on a summer sale, sure. That's about all it's worth.

I'm looking forward to getting it. I never finished it on the 360 (too much grind for my taste and I hated the battle system), but at that price and given that they'll either put in a save booster like VII and VIII or there will be some other way to hack the game (trainer, save files, whatever) I'll finally get to play it the way I want to: focused on story with enough power to kill anything.

I seem to be one of the few who actually liked XIII, although I liked the sequels (especially XIII-2) a lot more. It certainly pulls a lot of control away from the player, both in terms of level design and combat, but I also found that this streamlined a lot of the game-play. I certainly found it to be the least 'grindy' of the series, since the number of encounters, and by extension, the amount of experience you acquire, are rigidly set, although that flies out the window once you hit the final chapters.

The characters were rather uninteresting, particularly anyone who isn't named Sazh or Lightning. The visuals were gorgeous, but technically unimpressive (I've been lead to believe that the visuals in XII running on an emulator look richer than XIII), but the music was top notch. Four years on, I still find Dust to Dust to be tragically haunting.

If you haven't played it, and you have the PC to run it (and how could you not? These specs are a joke!) it might be time to give it a try, or at least wait until a Steam sale. As for me, I'm hesitant to lose $16 and another 50 hours of my life.

Well, considering I actually liked XIII, I'm thinking I'm gonna pick it up.

Seriously though, I understand why people may dislike it, but I don't think it deserves nearly as much hate as it gets.

I think its great that PC is getting the final fantasy games, even 13 which is critically panned by just about everyone. I hope this is a sign that major publishers release JRPGs are realizing theres money to be made on PC. Interestingly its come to my attention that theres a large indie market in Japan that focuses on making games on PC so maybe thats another contributing factor.

As far as the final fantasy games, now we need 9 and tactics. When that happens ill be happy to put some cash down

I was really hoping they would finish releasing the good Final Fantasy games before they released that crap, I'm still waiting for IX, VI, XII and Tactics, they should hurry up on those instead of this.
Good is subjective to opinion. Storyline aside, I rather liked Final Fantasy XIII. The stagger mechanic (or whatever it was called) was pretty awesome in my opinion, reminded me of Persona 3's 'down, group attack' type battling.
True enough, I would say I'd rather they prioritize the ones people actually want in defence of my argument but the last time I checked the pre-order of Final Fantasy XIII was on the bestsellers on Steam and the newly released Final Fatasy IV which you can actually play wasn't, so yeah, I guess it was a good move.

Sweet. This is something I'll totally ignore, thanks to XIII being utter garbage, but will take it as good news. Maybe they really are trying to get all of them out on PC. Makes sense since it's quicker and cheaper to port a game and XV probably wont be out until 2016.

I'll just wait for IX, XII, VI(maybe, if it's the Ted Woosley translation) and X(fine throw in X-2 and I'll buy them bundled).

I dont think PC need Final fantasy XIII. when it has much better games
better yet keep these JRPGs away from PC.

Why am I not surprised to see you saying that here? You know you don't have to buy the games if you don't want them 'tainting' your PC, right? Having options is great, and considering it's one of the best sellers on Steam right now, a lot of people want it.

They said they're going to release a demo of XV in March, so I'd say we'll get the full game later in 2015.

You torment me on purpose, Sass, don't you? (Though I'm curious about that as well, actually.)
PCGamer says yes

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/09/18/final-fantasy-xiii-confirmed-for-pc-releasing-next-month/

if anything ill say the price is very attractive, which is weird since it costs just as much as FF4 but has far better graphics and is more recent i think, in fact with the pre-order discount FF13 is cheaper
As crazy as it sounds, i'd advise you to play VII first, and if you like it, and want a little more challenge and arguably a better story, go with FF IV, it's the first great Final Fantasy game, and it is really better than FF XIII in almost every way aside from graphics.

What i really hope? That they launch some kind of updated Final Fantasy VI, is my favorite one.

It probably costs nothing, but it also seems a rather pointless move.
It's not like the PC gamers have had the opportunity to play ports of the previous FF games on PC and 13 is often regarded as a very weak installment in the series. Doesn't seem like an entry point that will win new fans.

Being a PC gamer I always regretted the lack of attention my platform got from Japanese developers, especially since there were several JRPGs I quite enjoyed. FF9 (emulated) was a wonderful game, and I very much enjoyed Last Remnant, especially the battle system. I'm pretty sure that I enjoy that style of game if for no other reason than because I've had so little chance to play it. I'm not burned out on JRPGs as a lot of people are. And so, I'm glad this is coming over, even if it is one of the less well received FF games.

That being said, I'm now going to return to playing FF14, which is freaking sweet :)

Despite being one of 3 people here who actually liked FFXIII (don't get me wrong, I can perfectly understand why people would hate it), I think this is absolutely weird...

What do they hope to accomplish with this? Every scenario I can come up with ends with the same answer: why XIII and not an FF game people actually care about?

Well, seeing as it's in the best sellers on Steam right now, a lot of people want it. Maybe it's because there weren't that many FF games released on PC before, meaning people don't have crazy high expectations of it. And I think it's SE testing the waters to see if XV would be viable on PC, which I hope for.

What's this? Someone showing some love to X-2? Times, they are a-changin' indeed. X3
I would argue that X2 has the best combat system of any Final Fantasy. Sure the story may be weak but the awesome gameplay makes up for its shortcomings in my opinion.

FF3, FF4, FF7, FF8 and F14 are all avaliable on steam
