You should edit your OP, Nomura was only a minor character designer in FFVI. I doubt he would have gotten to create the main characters.
I believe that is what I said, Amano was the artist who designed the characters, and Nomura was one of the ones who translated them into sprite form.

All of the designs are relativly tame.

I concede to your well though out and developed argument, truely you are a master of words and I bow humbly at you're feet. Take me master! take me and make me into a wordsmith like yourself!

Here's some new information including in game screenshots

Is this a real-time screenshot we?re looking? The image quality is very good.
Yes it?s an image in real-time using the real hardware. We aim to improve the quality you?re seeing now even further. As of now we can?t share more details in full scale right now, so we removed the menus and subscreens where it shows Noctis expression (image projected on the subscreen).

Were the party members also there originally?
Yes, we removed because we haven?t formally announced their weapons and clothes yet.

The exquisiteness and shades are like a photograph taken from real life.
Indeed, we?re using physical calculations to determine the movement of the clouds. By this time it allow us to filter sunlight and others on Versus XIII.

Is the cliff to the wilderness & the Gas Station set in the same location?
Yes in the back of the Store is the cliff to the extended wilderness. You can walk all the way, to everything you see but the mountains.

What?s this giant Enemy on the other screen?
It?s a Military Behemoth and he actually bears a huge sword in his back. As for this pictures, the battle screen were on the screen but we omitted it.

Q: The street of Shinjuku is real.
Yes, it?s our model for this, even the bicycle lanes and crosswalks are decipted. But the sense of distance has been changed a bit since the last time. Right out of the city you encounter the wilderness with electric wires every as it?s this kind of territory for this country.

This region, It is only the Prologue, the early stages, nature is so even there.
Movement around this area is easy because you can use a car. Getting on and off the car can be done anytime, but only not possible to go all the way through it because it leads to a region underwater that has been shown on promotional trailers before.

Monsters appear on the field?
(Laughter)?Yes, there are monsters that appear on the field; Some staff were doing the tests and were surprised by how good looking some are in the evening sun.

Are the battles seamless, what about the world?
It?s basically seamless and we aim to make it even more seamless, but there are loadings between big areas.

Information disclosure, is very restrict as of now.
Development is very advanced along and according to expectations we?re taking steady steps; wait at ease please, information on Versus XIII will come. Moreover, we?re making preparations for a Big announcement.

You can actually see a signboard and things written inside in the screenshot?
The signboard is still temporary even though the inside of the Gas Station is modeled after the Stations in the US in detail. It?s possible to go up there using the stairs.

Do you play in this perspective the whole game?
Yes. The camera basically sits in this position. We decided to priority to the character?s presence and the world; that said we decided to scrap the over the shoulder perspective of the world.

Well I could go into deep detail, but what's the point...FF11 was an MMO, 12 had a crappy combat system, and with 13 they made a game that virtually plays itself. They just don't produce quality games for this day and age. Maybe they should go back to developing 2D games only.

I'd actually be more excited for their next project if they did that...
Generic 2D RPG? Lol, It's gonna suck. Squeenix is dead.

What this mean exactly ?

Well I think the camera used to be closer in so it was more 'over the shoulder FPS' and they decided "Ehh fuck it" and scaled it back to well what you see in the screen shots.

But since we don't have EARLY screen shots to go by I have no idea.

Huh. After XIII, I'll give this a shot. It reminds me of Resonance of Fate in some ways.

There will be a KH3 eventually.

So this is a real Final Fantasy? Was the first XIII just a joke from Square?

Do you think if we sent our XIII games back to square they'd give us this in return?

Simply a different director.

The FFXIII one was Motomu Toriyama. The only game he was involved with as director on a console was X-2 so that explains so much.

Versus is a Nomura game. The man has an equal number of hits and misses under his belt.

So it's pretty much commonly accepted that FFXIII was the single biggest disappointment of the gaming year at least for the JRPG crowd bar none and this is coming from one.
Bit of a sweeping statement there.. I know plenty of JRPG fans who really liked FFXIII, myself included.

As for Versus, personally I dislike the look of the game. I always like either the polished cyberpunk style or medevilish style of FF games, and Versus looks too 'gritty' and 'real' to me. I'm still interested in how it comes out though, and whether or not the KH battle system is implimented well, and if it is Versus could actually turn out pretty good.
totally agree with you their, i loved it, the card game was second best only to blitzball as a side game!!!
I loved Blitzball............. *sigh* Maybe the best minigame in a game ever!
OT - I do have a XIII game running, but am finding it......not as compelling as I would have liked, still enjoying it though. But then I am in the FFXII lover camp, I found the gambit system lots of fun! And I don't even care about the fact that it isn't cool to like XII ;-) (maybe cos I am in my 40's I don't give a shiny shite for cool, lol)

Nomura stated that KH3 will only be made if Vs. XIII moves enough units.Which it most likely will.

From the hype I'd say it sells more than XIII. Atleast in the first week. Of course can't say about the japane what they think about the gameplay change.

That said. Considering how many people said "Square Enix are dead, not going to try another of their games ever again". Although, we all know the majority will probably change their minds.

I think it'll depend on how they advertise. Final Fantasy XIII had TV ads, posters on busses, etc. Since Versus isn't a main 'numbered' title, I question whether they'll spend that much on it, consequently, I don't doubt that will result in less sales, as less people will know about it. Also if it isn't being released on the 360, that will cut down sales also.

Taking all that into account. I reckon if anything, it will get less sales than Final Fantasy XIII. However, it will still sell really well. It is still a Final Fantasy game, after all. Which despite popular belief, is still going strong, as shown by XIII's sheer amount of sales.

The 360 version was only released in the west. for XIII and only sold 1.5 million compared to the PS3's 4 million. When you consider a big budget game like that... Well... Obviously "Yay extra money" but from a purely business standpoint it wasn't a rousing success. now I'm not saying it was a bad business decision and I'm not going to get into the whole "Was content cut out" or blah blah blah. It was more of a "Yeah it made some money, but not enough to have meant something"

But that's purely on a cost/profit ratio.

It's like the new PoP movie. It made lots of money, but it didn't make much of a profit.

Regardless thats not the topic of this topic so lets stay on topic.

As for the advertising etc. Well I remember X-2 getting a lot of advertisment and I even remember commercials for Tactics advanced (BAD commercials but still) But as you said it depends how it's promoted. You can release the best game in the world and it makes no difference if no one buys it.

As for "I'm not buying another square product" what happened with Nintendo again

"Nintendo has scorned me, I'm never buying another- oooh new Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus, Zelda, Mario, Metroid. All is forgiven"

Fans are fickle things.
