Now before we begin, let's put a biiiiiig disclaimer up here: No. Fanboys. From either side. I don't want to hear "Oh, it sucks because it's final fantasy" or, "It sucks because it's an MMO" wah wah bull ****. This is a simple question. If you like Final Fantasy, and are interested in Final Fantasy XIV, then please, post and discuss. If you're here just to flame or say that it sucks before it's even out, then please get out. :D Thank you.

Anyway, as for myself, I find it interesting..I'm definetly going to be joining up when it comes out in September, but I'll also be keeping my WoW subscription as well.

Negative. Pay-to-play subscription games are to be avoided. I like Final Fantasy, sure, but I don't like getting bilked on a monthly basis whether I'm playing or not. But that's just me.

I have no interest in it what-so-ever.
While I like Final Fantasy, I like Star Wars more, and a game with KotOR elements is far superior to anything Final Fantasy, any day, in my book.

A friend of mine just wrapped up alpha testing for the game and he's pretty well got me convinced that it's worth giving a whirl. For all its faults, I did love FFXI when it first came out, so I'm at least going to check out XIV and see what it's all about.

No, it's me too.

I always thought that FF games were more for the story and characters, and lately both have been terrible.

I'm going to see how it does when its out, if theres a large enough community and good elements to it, then I probably will get it. For now, I'm parked on the fence.

Nope, MMO's aren't my thing anyway, but even if they are the Final Fantasy brand name isn't enough to get me to buy a product. The previews the game has been getting claim it's not fun to play, and really the only thing I can see being remotely interesting is the quality of the graphics; which is something Square-Enix appear to be focusing on more and more, whilst ignoring the actual gameplay part of the game.
The fact the game completes quests for you, and offers little need to explore kinda kills the whole RPG style of the game for me. I might attempt to get into if, if it's free, or they offer a trial, just to confirm my suspicions, but if I have to pay then no, I defiantly wouldn't even consider buying it. That and the game has been designed around consoles...MMO's don't belong on consoles...

FFXI is the single game I've played for the most hours, even if it's been almost 3 years since I last played it. So yeah, I definitely must have it. Problem is I don't have a PC that would run it or a PS3 and I heard it MIGHT go to the 360, which I have. Don't wanna fork out £200 for a PS3 and then have it come out for the 360 a few months later :( Guess we'll just have to wait and see

Yep! Already pre-ordered it. I like their class new system, and it will be really nice with a PvE MMO for once.

And subscription isn't really a bad thing, I spend alot more every weekend on junk food and booze to be bothered by a measly 13 ?.

I'll have a look at the trial when there is one and decide from that,as I do with all MMOs.

I'd consider getting it, if I had absolutely no concept of value-for-money.
If it was a one off payment as it is for most games, then fine, I'd give the trial a go and possibly get the game. But a monthly payment equal to what I spend on cider? Sorry, the cider's more valuable to my sanity, and I don't have to pay Magners a one-off start-up payment for the privilege of buying their liquid will-to-live.

Agreed. Big negatory from me as well.

Very doubtful, since it's almost guaranteed to be subscription based. Maybe if we're lucky they will make FFXI free at the launch of XIV? I know, wishful thinking, but a man can dream can't he?

No because I already have an MMO to suck out my time and it's not subscription based and I have my eye on the Old Republic for my next one.

Yes :-/ I just wish I was in the beta.

FFXIV and RB3 are pretty much the only games I'm looking forward to this year.
