That is one expensive rage-quit.

Wow....and that is why they should have stopped at the first one. Could have saved a lot of innocent souls from fandom.

Dear SE;
don't touch MMOs, you're bad at it.

Regards, Vac.

Really though, if that is true, that's a huge amount of stock to throw away over a game, but I guess it will hopefully teach SE to learn to make games again.

If anyone wants to invest in Square, now is the time to because the stocks are cheap and they will go up in the future
The article says that the price recovered in the afternoon, so they're not cheaper anymore.

On topic: If this really is true and all the stocks were sold by one person, than someone just made themselves a ton of money.

Depends on how much he bought them for. As far as I can tell SE stock is worth a chunk less than this time last year.

Lol, well someone got richer :) (unless he paid the 26 mil stock price roughly around the same price)

Ah, true that. I hadn't thought about what it would've cost to buy the stocks in the first place. The way he talked in the post he put up made it seem like he was a long-time fan, so he could've had the stocks for a while now. That would also make him a bit of a douche if it was true, seeing as how he said he loved everything the company had done, except for this one game. Not much of a fan if hating one title out of their massive list of games is enough to make you jump ship.

And the first thing said in the board room was "shit, how are we going to fix this!".

That has to be a record breaking rage quit.

I did the most retarded grin after reading that because all the while I was thinking. "Someone ask him if they can have his stuff/money."

MMO nerdom is universal no matter what one you play...

After spending some time with Final Fantasy XIV, I completely understand why he did this. The game is perhaps one of the worst things to ever happen to the MMO genre.

Wow, that's a lot of money to be losing... If I had anywhere near $1,000,000 I could be satisfied for a LONG time. In this case, it just went down the drain.

It doesn't make him a douche. You don't own 1% (a large amount in large corporations) of a company because you're a "fan". You do it because you think you will make money. A $26m rage-quit is not because he's a bruised fanboy, but because he believes that the company has taken a large gamble and failed to deliver on promises.

The recent "EA Louse" whistle-blower said Bioware spent $300m on SWTOR, and if that fails to deliver the value of the company will go way down.

He's probably selling because he thinks that FF XIV is an expensive dud, and is getting out before the market realises this and the value of his shares, which may have already taken a beating, goes down even further. You don't dick about with $26m. Particularly if you're rich.
