Final Fantasy 14 didn't die because of the subscription fee, although I'm sure that didn't help at all. It died because it was a horrible horrible game.

Has nothing to do with a subscription fee. There is still a rather large community on FFXI, which has a sub fee, many of whom went over to XIV, decided it was shit and came back.

I may play FFXIV 2.0 if it's F2P.
If it's P2P, much like FFXI, I will ignore it completely.

But I do appreciate that they took all the fan criticism and feedback to make a better product (like they did with FFXIII-2).

Why do people hate Square so much? They are about the only devs that actually take the time to liten to fans and make the appropriate changes. They are also one of the only devs (worldwide) to embrace both Eastern and Western philosophies in gaming.

Pretty sure fans want a final fantasy 7 remake with modern graphics and it's a cash cow waiting to be milked and people have been crying out for it for a long time now. Just saying they don't always listen

They did listen, but the community who want ff7 remade are just a small but VERY loud bunch of people.
Then they went and said they'd remake 10 in HD as it would be easier and cheaper (Not sure how that went)
Then 7 was re-released for PC on Steam.

Re Releasing 7 won't bring in as much money for square as people think. Don't get me wrong, I would personally kill for it... But it wouldn't sell as well as people hope.

So apparently FFXIV has been shut down and is being rebuilt in an attempt to make it better and draw in more people.

I personally do not think it will work. At all. The reason FFXIV failed is cause it uses Subscription fees. Nobody wants to shell out money for a MMO that is not well heard of and does not guarantee as much extensive content as say WOW does.

I myself would have played it if all I had to do was pay once to get into it then no more fees, OR Free to play with Micro Transactions.

You do know the game was free to play for like a whole year right? I went from pay to play , to free to play , back to pay to play . Just saying . But no it won't work . They should just make it free to play ( again ) and let it die .

If I remember, they only did this for members; it was a payment freeze, not a switch to F2P
