At this point I just do not care. The last FF I loved was 10 and while 10-2 was bad in every way I liked the happy bonus ending so I just take it, put it after 10's credits in my mind and thats that.

FF Return of the Jedi 12 pissed me off. 13 made me give up.

I couldn't finish XIII. I got to Gran Pulse, and found there were 60 'hunt the thing' missions and honestly couldn't be bothered. I actually got through most of the railroad-y bits with no problems the second time round (the first time, I put it down after killing Barthandelus the first time and got no further), but when it got to Pulse, I just couldn't do it anymore. I tried desperately to finish it, and put off playing XIII-2, which I had a lot more interest in, so I could try to finish it first. However, a couple of days ago, I picked up XIII-2 and have absolutely LOVED it. Every issue I had with XIII is gone, and I've enjoyed the setting, the plot, the characters, the non-linearity of it all, and hell, even the missions, and they're not all 'go here, hit that until it dies'. So yeah, if they continue it with a sequel, I'll probably get it. But VERSUS XIII, that is a game I NEED to see.
*Hi five* Good to see that someone else liked it! FFXIII-2 is a damn fine Final Fantasy game and surpasses 13 in every way, in FF13, it focused on a predicable plot, boring combat and was so linear you couldn't call it that, it felt like a hallway simulator.

Versus 13 needs to be released! Come on square! Hell, I say 13-2 is in my top 5 of Final Fantasy games (I loved it that much) The Crystarium isn't bullshit like it was in 13 (no game, I don't want Hope to level up his strength stat!) and is even pretty good! I found the Noel/Serah duo an interesting group to follow and they had no romance which was a breath of fresh air.

I will be buy 13-3 day one and I will get Versus 13...If it ever gets freaking released!
Final Fantasy X didn't make me play for 20 hours before shit actually started happening.

every time i hear they are doing sequels or even know final fantasy games, a voice in my head keeps shouting "go back to ivalice you bloody bastards". because there just isn't enough games set in the genuinely interesting world they created for those games

Fucking seriously? Out of all the FF games, they give the worst one TWO sequels?
Final Fantasy II did not get two sequels.

I actually liked 13-2, the whole time travel bit was a nice concept, the maps were larger and more complex, it didn't have the whole 9 chapter tutorial, and the true ending, while a downer was well done, a first for the series, and actually fit the villain.
Agreed.

Personally, I loved 13-2 - it had a solid combat system, good story, and well written characters. It's story wasn't as good as 13, but it was made far better than 13 (the issues of which need no repeating) and is more consistently fun to play.

Also, after playing 13-2 made me want to go back and play 13 again, I found myself really missing Mog. It was great to have a chest-collecting moogle you could throw off cliffs if you were annoyed. And he'd even bring you random stuff when you did.

Anyway, I really want to see how they resolve this plot. I am very much looking to 13-3. Here's hoping the wait isn't too long.

I'm not surprised they're making another one. At this point, the oversaturation of the franchise is almost complete.

I tried XIII-2 - what a complete letdown, and yet, it's difficult to pin down why I hate it so much. A villain who seems oddly more developed and sympathetic than the main characters. A "shaggy dog story" where the lead female protagonist dies after it's built up hope that she would survive. An ending sequence that nullified any feeling of satisfaction or success. DLC that only drove home the point that the prologue for the game, and the absence of XIII's main character, showed that the developers had no clue what they were doing.

The best thing I can say is that at least it was more open-world than the godawful linearity of XIII.

...I like FF XIII and XIII-2.

Please don't kill me.
I liked XIII-2 better than XIII primarily because it had quite a bit more freedom than XIII. However, if XIII-3 were announced I think I would start foaming at the mouth. Not because I don't approve of the idea but because I would prefer if they focused their efforts on developing Versus XIII. I would hate to see it turn into Square-Enix's version of Duke Nukem Forever.

I'm looking forward to XIII-3! I just beat 13-2 a few days ago, and GOOD GOD I LOVED THAT GAME! I still need to get to the Lightning DLC, but that ending, good god! I HAVE to see this continue!

Shut up and take my money, Square-Enix!
you sir, or madam as the case may be, are indeed courageous, or bitingly satirical, I can't quite tell which one you're going for.

in all seriousness, I didn't mind XIII, just recently started XIII-2 and honestly, whether I end up having liked it or not, I probably will end up getting XIII-3, if this announced game even ends up being XIII-3 at all, it could be something completely different, but whatever it is I'll probably end up getting it

Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic at all. FF13-2 is one of the best jRPGs I've played in a while, and, with how the game's structured, the closest we'll ever get to a Chrono Trigger remake. Seriously, the way this game handles time-travel is like a 90% copy of how CT did it.

I can't stand XIII and XIII-2, while improving the combat system, looks "eh" at best from the demo I've played and other gameplay I've seen of it. Maybe if Square Enix would stop making sequels for their series that was never meant to have straight-up sequels, Versus XIII would be out by now.
