Finally an update on Adult Swim's Samurai Jack.

Here's the real question, what are they doing about Aku's voice?

Well, getting Mako again is going to be pretty damn hard, so either they'll give Aku a completely new voice or they could find a voice actor that can do a close impression of Mako's Aku voice.

I am less concerned about who will voice him (even though it is a factor) and more concerned about his portrayal because if they are going for the more "Darker, Bloodier, and More Epic" rout than they have to make Aku a much more competant and intimidating villain because Aku at times can be a bit too.......un-threatening:

And of course Jack many times is seen easily defeating Aku at every turn.

So bascially to use gaming terminology, they seriously need to buff Aku's Evilness, Intimidation, and Power for this new direction to work.

We will need more than grimdark though. So many good episodes in SJ IMO were because of even having a dark story there was some light (humor, hope or even Aku not being completely evil).

I'm not saying there shouldn't be stories darker than the tale of X9. It's fine to go all G.I. Joe Resolute on this.

It will be nice seeing him slice into actual living creatures instead of constant robots. But I don't want each episode to be drenched in red and Jack looking like he just went swimming in the stuff after every fight.

With respect, there's already plenty of precedence with getting drenched in the guts of his enemies. Here's caps from episode 3:

God that looks sick as hell. I absolutely love Samurai Jack it's my favorite cartoon hands down. I just really hope I can have it streamed somewhere cause we got rid of cable tv.

I like how the art style is pretty close to the old version, but now with blood.

Also, Jack's been getting old while lost. Now that I can actually follow over 100 episodes of plot, I'd better append Samurai Jack's old version to the bottom of my watch list.

I don't think they need to try make it more grim or brutal than the original run. Just replace the black stuff(oil), with red stuff(blood) and we're set.

Honestly, I'm hoping for that, but maybe with blood. They could keep a few robot enemies here and there for the sake of the old series and keeping it linked to that. Otherwise, the old show doesn't need too much to be more adult. The sheer fact that Jack may actually kill people is enough.

I'm on board with everyone else. If blood is actually in the show now, then it should be around the same amount as oil was in the previous show. I'm all for Jack being darker, but not a gore fest. Also there still should be plenty of machines for him to cut up, because robots have pretty much become a staple of the series. Still, not everything should turn out to have secretly been a robot this time around

Also, I thought Jack looked like crap. Then I looked at the article and learned it's been fifty years. Now I'm impressed he doesn't look worse.

Oh fuck me where do I begin.

First off I hate the new characters, Whis the God of Destruction and his servent, and the overall art direction of the new characters throws me off.

Secondly the fights are inferior for a number of reasons, 1 its practically bloodless, the fights are just not brutal and intense enough in Dragon Ball Z just half way through the beginning of fights and chacracters already has their clothes torn up and bleeding. The worse they get here is just harmless looking scratch marks. The fights just lacks edge, I mean look at Goku by the time he kills Freiza:

He's scarred, he's bleeding, he clearly has bruise marks from all the puches and beatings. He looks like he just went through a fight that could have killed him. I don't get that in Super.

And finally the plots so far. And oh my goodness I am gonna come out and say it.

Dragon Ball GT is better than Super. Oh that show has its flaws, but the concepts for thier stories, just by concept alone makes them better then what I have seen in DB Super so far. The idea of the character of Baby and the Dark Dragons are so much more interesting and DBZ like than the plots in Super.

Also Super Sayain 4 > Super Sayain God
