The Triplets of Belleville

I'm still not sure how many people are aware of this great animated movie.

Maybe not necessarily a great movie, but a very inspiring one would be "Beyond the Black Rainbow". It barely has any story, but a strong visual style and some interesting ideas on the side.

Another imaginative movie i recall would be "marebito", perhaps the best Work of "The Grudge" Creator Takashi Shimizu, but be warned, it is an incredibly uncomfortable film that is always right between creepy and "creepy".

Also, see "The Fountain" and listen to it's incredibly soundtrack for the rest of your life.

You should try watching a film called Laputa some day. It's pretty good, and you may find yourself stopping it 50 minutes in because of inspiration someday.

If you're looking to write stories, you ought to be reading, not watching movies. There isn't enough creativity in Hollywood to be worth sifting through.

...because it's the exact film I mentioned in my first post.

Ah, I'd almost forgotten all about Hellboy. Now there's a film that's utter nonsense, but honest, fun, imaginative nonsense done in good taste. I'll need to watch it again sometime.

Because all movies in the world are made in Hollywood, right? The reason I'm asking for movies (or visual media in general) is because I've found that images inspire me more than words. Also, music inspires me a lot. I once came up with an entire fictitious mythology through one Dimmu Borgir song and their newest album's cover art. But if you have good books to recommend in this regard, I'll be happy to hear it.
