I am braced for hate and/or "not his thread again" posts but here we go.

My Little Pony has spawned the majority of music that now happily resides on my phone. Most of them are fan made from scratch with the only relation to the show being the source material that inspired them to write and create some truly amazing music.

In my life I have never witness a fanbase do something like this, but i'm not as well travelled as some.

I didn't even used to like dubstep, dance or electro but the work of the likes of: Alexs, notacleverpony and eurobeat Brony have seriously changed my opinion.

This sounds like such a plug I know but its been on my mind for awhile now and would like to know if anyone else has an experience of finding good music where you least expect it. e.g. games or (like me) memetic TV shows.

I first heard Lights when my sister was watching Family (Disney) Channel.

I thought that was an unlikely place to hear good music.

For some reason, car commercials and stupid internet ads tend to have a catchy tune rolling in the background and I sometimes look up the song. Often times it turns out that the song is more awesome than the garbage it was meant to advertise.

Oh god yeah, if I hear one more autotuned R&B song on the radio, I'm going to rip my ears off. I get sick of it even to a point when my heart does a little backflip everytime something like Lady Gaga comes on.

I don't listen to the radio if I can help it.

Hmm, well a radio station called triple J in Australia just started an entirely new station called Triple J unearthed - the basic idea was to showcase local unsigned/underground artists.

I tuned in expecting mostly crap with some ok songs, you know, bands I could look out for in the future. But there was SO much cool stuff! various new genres and artists that i would normally not give a second look! My favorite so far was an aussie hip hop track by ellesquire called "on the prowl". I was stoked because I never listened to hip hop before this.

here it is, some NSFW language http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipU7_e6uF3A

People might think the O.C. is a stupid program for teenage girls but it actually has a brilliant soundtrack

I got a lot of good music from the Scrubs soundtrack.

Heck, soundtracks represent most of my exposure to new music these days.

Oh yes, the pony fandom has spawned a lot of amazing music that everyone can enjoy.
But besides that, I recently discovered a really cool song by Leftfield in some commercial... Can't remember what it was about...
Oh right! Now I remember, this guinnes advert here:

And for good measure, here's one of my favorite songs inspired from MLP (Don't worry, you won't even notice it is pony related if you ignore the picture)

My little pony has inspired some nice songs although I dislike all the songs from the show and most of the dubstep songs people have made are really lacking in complexity but that's how it usually is with stuff I suppose.

Anyhow when it comes to me I guess the worst part about my taste in music is that most of it is from video games. Sometimes they come in albums like the soundtrack to kingdom hearts but most of the time it's like ratchet and clank where there never really was an album or patapon where an album would actually be difficult to create. My computer software absolutely ruins my music by naming my songs whatever the hell it thinks it's supposed to be.

And that's only my most recent problem usually when people ask me what I listen too I usually tell them music from my games and that probably paints a very shallow picture of my musical taste when in reality it's like saying I enjoy watching anime. It's very complex and varied but you'll never know that if you don't care for it.

My favourite song of all time was the song playing during the credits of ME1.

I also tune in to a radio channel every now and again to listen to a new song that'll be played by a band I like and I end up liking the songs played before it more.

A site named pown.it

It a site where you press a "random" button and you get random gifs. There are actually quite a few good ones, among those, some with really good music including, but not limited to, a great remix of The good the bad and the ugly soundtrack.

im often surprised the quality of the soundtrack in indie games. You?d think that with the shoelaces budget these games already have they really won?t be much of a soundtrack. but the frozen synapse and super meatboy soundtracks are some of my all time favored game soundtracks ever

Ponies, definitely. My iTunes/iPhone is slowly getting more and more pony tracks.

I also love the songs from the show itself!
