How about making diplomacy with the AI worth a damn? I stopped bothering with it because dealing with the AI is so stupidly unreasonable that it just wasn't worth the hassle. So instead I ended up just invading everyone after the umpteenth war declaration.
For quick gold, offer up an extra luxury resource on your side, then hit the "How to make this deal work" button. You might even get surprised on how much they're gonna value that resource.

A lot of solid, needed fixes. I personally ran into a number of the bugs, and they're cramping my Civ 5 gaming. Still a pretty good version of Civ, better than 3, but still below the utter gloriousness of 4.

The reasons I just jumped for joy:

GAMEPLAY

Workers - Added option to force workers to ignore manually made improvements (so they don't change what you decide was best for a plot).

Military - Correct promotions for "archer-like" units (horse archers, chariots).

Military - Improved unit cycling logic. Camera will jump around much less.

AI

Military - AI will tend to build ships to deal with blockaded cities more often

Diplomacy - AI will be more reluctant to offer or accept open border agreements with more powerful opponents.

Diplomacy - Fix for never ending deals (peace, research agreements, etc).

City - City specialization and city focus improvements.

City - Cities that are Avoiding Growth will not grow while that option is selected
They heard my requests! I always wondered why the enemy had no navy even when my whole plan was to use my navy to crush them.

I got stuck in a never ending peace with England and all they would do is insult me, you insult me you meet the pointy end of my blade.

That auto unit cycle would mess up my war plan as I would be about to click on the unit I wanted then I would be on another continent, wait what?

Thank you kind messenger, I can play again I just need a patch.

Take a raise out of Mr. Pitt?s salary.

The AI doesn't seem to be affected by this patch, though, so make sure that you're all alone in your continent before gunning for a Space victory. As a side note, when going for Space, you'll be buying a lot of things instead of making them (this is because you will be sacrificing hammers in favor of beakers).

Balance - Engineers +1 hammer
Economy - Increased city wealth setting to 25%
Strategic View - Crash fix for units rendering in background.

Thank god for that. The multiplayer game with my friend kept crashing when I tried to go into strategic view for more than 30 seconds, but without it ran like crap on my laptop.

And it's nice to see the engineers being halfway decent now. +1 hammer for one engineer? A farm on a plain was worth that much hammers. The only reason to consider these bastards was if you wanted a great engineer, and maybe if you had multiple specialist upgrades (Statue of liberty, + science per specialist + half unhappyness and food per specialist, though even then more scientists was better)

And the generate wealth option is now at least something else than a colossal waste of time. 10% of production to wealth is completely worthless. Most players had figured out that you were better off building scouts, workers or workboats and immediately disbanding them for the cash disband reward. This actually gave more gold per production than generate wealth.

I haven't bought Civ5 yet, simply because my 2006-issue computer can barely handle it on minimum settings. Might be about high time to upgrade if Firaxis keeps making it more awesomer.

No support for animations when in multiplayer? Weak. Still nice patch, especially the engineers +1

Wait are they ever going to put in the regenerate map option? I'd settle for a "default settings" option that would save the victory conditions etc. that the non-advanced options don't cover. I'm tired of starting with two deserts surrounding my city or tons of mountains and having to go back and reset up the entire game. Also the city states need to learn to be aggressive as well. I had one that I had supplied with a whole army, in permanent war with a rival state, and they never left their home area. Once the city states declare war they should act more like barbarians (actually it would be really cool if they could evolve into full civs, but that is only in my dreams).
