Does anyone have the firelance? Does anyone know how to get it?

Also, while I'm at the Fallout mysteries...who has found a location called
Bethesda Ruins
? What is it supposed to be? The ruins of the realistic location of the actual Bethesda Studios? Or just a building with the name as an easter egg?
You never actually see the ufo with the firelance. You may hear an explosion or (if at night) see a flash. What will tip you off is the sudden appearance of glowing alien ammo on the ground. Pick up all the ammo and if you don't see the firelance set Dogmeat looking for it, then have him look for ammo too; he's sure to find clips you didn't.

A cool little aspect of Bethesda Ruins: if you still need to level up Big Guns skill go back there every 3 days and kill the two raiders with flamethrowers in the buildings. One of them has a BG skill book that re-spawns with him.
Why does everyone, but everyone, have dogmeat? I personally absolutely hate having a companion. i tried out having dogmeat, and I ended up killing him. I had no choice. I HATED having him there all the time, and so tried to tell him to fuck off. But there is no option to remove him as a companion, so I needed to kill him. I wasted like half the ammo on my specialized plasma rifle aswell. I don't remember where I found the weapon, but it is something like A3-(some numbers)'s plasma rifle?

Awesome weapon. Uses same ammo as the laser rifle. Wierd.
That plasma gun (A1...) came from the Android when you finished the Replicated Man Quest. It is very cool.

I don't like Dogmeat following me around either. Thats why I tell him to wait at the safehouse. Then if I need him for something like this, I go back there, pick him up and get my loot. Then I go back to the safe house and leave him there again.
Shoot. Well...maybe if I get the puppies! perk at lvl 22...then maybe even though he's dead a puppy will appear? Or will he reappear at the scrap/vault 101?

Sigh.

I could deal without him. Plus...in dialogue with him I only got the option to make wait at the Vault. What's the safehouse/where is it?
I played off the ps3 so I don't have puppies. I don't know if the puppy shows up at 101 or Scrapyard nor am I sure if the perk is useful if dogmeat is already dead.

Yea, you can send him to 101 which is useful if you want to keep going around but don't want him with you. I just had the regular safehouse in Megaton and while there with him, used the "wait right here." speech option.
Buttocks. I need to find a way to make him alive again. Cheat maybe. Hehe.
If you have the PC version, sure, you can cheat him back. Otherwise, you'll have to start a new game or from an old save.
I've killed companions before but just annoying ones like Stinky.

My Firelance story is kind of sad actually.

For reference, Dogmeat had already died.

I was exploring the northern part of the map, near where Oasis is, under the monorail tracks or whatever they are, when I heard the explosion. Sure enough, I turn around and there's alien blaster ammo everywhere, but no firelance.... I'm assuming the firelance ended up on top of the monorail tracks and I couldn't for the life of me find a way to get up there. I had to leave it.
You can still try blowing it off with a grenade or missile if it's too high up.

TES IV is inscribed on a metal plate on the telephone poles behind Big Town. If you haven't found Big Town, there's a quest (Big Trouble in Big Town) that begins if you go to the Germantown Police Station and find a certain incarcerated character, or if you find Big Town itself.
When I previously owned F'out 3 I found Big Town and enjoyed completing the quest, then gaining mega good karma when you go there at night and killing off some Super Mutants.

But, upon owning it this time, I have yet to explore that side of the map. So far, I have only visited Tenpenny and Arefu on the left/top sides of the map. Been hanging out in old DC mainly. I might go to Big Town Soon. The Quest encourages exploration. I need some exploration. First, Ima go get the Lincoln's Repeater at the history museum.

Lol back to the topic of your post...oooooohohhhhhh...i can't believe it is actually in the game!!!! Woop!
Yeah man, Lincoln's Repeater is godlike. At first, you're in a bit of an ammo crunch for that thing, but later on ammo for that is easier to find.
I personally abused the Outcast Collection Agent quest for .556 ammunition, then went to the Pitt ammo press (DLC) and recalibered them into .44 rounds. So I have about 12000 rounds for the damned thing, and I love it.

I'll give you a obvious hint. The name of the gun is tied to a particular quest. When you've found the quest, you'll know where to look for the gun.
Lol ok. Thanks, friend. I will look out for it.
Here's another hint if you want it... Lincoln Repeater is a historic artifact... where would one of those be?
Ok...lemme take a stab at it....I have only just arrived at Rivet City and I found a ancient artefacts display thing. The dude asked me to retrieve the declaration of independence in a archives place. Is the repeater there or in Rivet itself?
Neither, but your warm. It's definitely in the DC area.
Hmmm.....It's not in Rivet, it's not in the archives, it could be in.....the history museum?

yes it in the museum it in the top floor in a display case.

Edit: only found the history museum yesterday. Don't know where it is inside it though...IF this is where it is
Nice! I will search later. My fav weapon is the Hunting rifle, and a more powerful one will be welcome.
You'd also be wise to find Ol' Painless. It's a special hunting rifle with only slightly improved stats, but a zero spread. That basically means it's a sniper rifle without a scope, seeing as how it always goes exactly where you aim... although I don't remember if Lincoln's Repeater did too... hmm...

Amen to that. One of the best guns in the game, that trusty 'ol Repeater.
Throw in a top hat and a nice suit, and you got yourself the definition of awesomeness.
Edit: Don't forget the beard.
All these put together actually make Fallout 3 worth playing.

I've gotten firelance a ridiculous number of times. So I might be wrong here, but I THINK I got it twice with one character once, but I'm genuinely not sure. This would have been in a near 100% run, so I may be wrong, but I have over 120 hours logged on that character.

I've run into it outside of the super duper mart, outside the hotel in Arlington, heading south from megaton, near the freeway overpass and the red racer factory, north digging around looking for oasis, it was in some kind of open air cavern area, in the ruins south east of Tenpenny Tower. And I've seen my GF get it just north of Tenpeny Tower and the RoboCo factory. I think I may have triggered it south of Tenpenny Tower outside the store with the Lucky Shades inside.

EDIT: The Bethesda Ruins are supposedly a reference to the company's old headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Since then they moved from Bethesda to Rockville, into new offices, but the ruins are (roughly) the location of their old office.

You want firelance?
1. Begin a new character
2. go to the old woman's shack next to the river and just down the road from the supermarket.
3. swim to the north side of the anchorage memorial, you should see some stairs in front of you leading to the statue.
4. save
5. walk toward the stairs, if you see a green explosion in the sky and hear the sound of a rocket - save, if not reload.
6.bring dogmeat from the scrapyard to the memorial and tell it to find a weapon.
7.???
8.PROFIT

The memorial is a random encounter location but encounters only happen once in each area so start a new character to ensure that its encounter hasn't been used up. Starting a new character is also the best way to ensure that firelance hasn't already fallen somewhere when you want to get it.

I've personally not found the Firelance, though I was watching my wife play and noticed some alien ammo on the ground near Meresti trainyard. She scoured there area for half an hour looking for it (it turned out to be on top of one of the tunnel entrances - she had to pick up a barrel and use it as a step to jump up there).

I've heard it sometimes lands on top of buildings and is completely out of reach - so it's possible to get the Firelance event and never, ever find the weapon.

Damn...I would be gutted if it landed on an unreachable bit. Maybe...I hate cheating...but if I saw the explosion and the gun was unreachable...I might use Noclip.

I had it land on the roof of a burned out office building once.

Well if you're gonna use a console commands anyway, why not just spawn yourself a Firelance? :p

I can't even find rockopolis. I have no idea. I will google now.
Go west from Smith Casey's garage, and keep your eyes open as it has no location marker on the map.

You'll come to a ravine with a random encounter in it, look for the fairy lights hanging between two trees by the rock wall.

Then off you go to Tenpenny Tower and give Herbert Daring Dashwood the bad news...

Also another random spawn point is on the broken bridge next to Smith Casey's garage on the way to Gerdershade (the nuka cola quantum quest and the 'Kneecaper' sawn of shotgun). A little way up the bridge and you'll see the spawn point because out of no-where a deathclaw/raiders/traders etc will apear. It's where I found the FireLance.

You'll find this awesome weapon in the Republic of Dave, in the far north-eastern corner of the map. It's my favorite gun in the game and the most reiable all rounder.

You can kill Dave and get his key, OR...

If you are a good character and don't want to kill Dave, then help him with the election.

Convince Rosie and the other dude to run for president and tell everyone to go vote.

When everyone has voted, report to Dave. Then use a stealth boy and open the ballot box just as he does. Steal the votes for him and either Rosie or the other douchebag will win. You wll then recieve the key to Dave's safe and one of the best weapons in the game!

I do have the firelance, and it is pretty awesome, but most of the time i am loathe to use it as ammo is so hard to come by for alien weapons. At best, I use it for behemoth takedowns and the occassional outcast massacre.

But yea, the firelance is obtained through sheer luck and a strong anti fast travel mindset.

Also, ya Bethesda Ruins is probably just an easter egg name.

Yeah, raiders and other NPCs are bad about picking up weapons left on the ground. Obviously the Firelance encounter went off and a raider spawned nearby. Not surprisingly, the preference for things is based on damage output, so chinese pistols left around are going to be safe from everyone but the unarmed.
