LotRO, Rift, and...I suppose most of the MMORPG communities are decent. Just have to watch out for the people who take their RP or PvP way too seriously.
Yeah, from what I've played RIFT isn't too bad either.

Any team based game generally does not have an obliging community to newcomers because of their tendency to slow the team down. Starcraft II doesn't do half bad, as long as you're not teamed up. People who play Starcraft II custom maps seem to be especially obliging. Rift has some rather nice people.

Edit: I've also noticed that communities of games that are dying or have a small playerbase generally welcome newcomers for the variety they can bring to the playerbase, as long as the newcomer is equally as nice.

I'm not big on multyplayer but as far as my experience goes then Dawn of War II and Half-Life 2 deathmach have been nicest to me.

but the DoW2 community is about as lively as a morgue hardly anyone talks while you wait for games to set up. I almost played 100 hours of multiplayer before someone at least said hi.
How is that bad, to my mind no talking is good, mostly.

It is bad that when they won't talk or even say hi just high while you wait for the map to load. No problem for no type talking in game but not in a lobby.

despite all the negative press I dont find the halo comunity to bad.
Matchmaking aside, I agree with you there.

As console shooters go the Halo series has done very well for itself community wise, it's better than a lot of PC games now. Although I'm worried what will happen when Microsoft completely take over from Bungie, I can't see them taking as much care over the series.

Battlefield 2 for the PC has some mods and the people that play those mods are prety cool, although Project Reality CAN be a bit harsh if you are new to it, some guys can teach you while others can kick you from the squad.

maybe there are better, but BFBC2 has never disappointed me. most people don't use voice chat, and if they do they generally are actually helpful, telling you where the enemies are, etc.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on the Xbox.

Seriously, you've never met friendlier people than people who straight-up don't exist.

Uncharted 2s community was pretty cool. Nobody took it that serious and just had a laugh.
Bull. Crap.

All day yesterday:

"Aww look, this ***** is using situational"

"Man why cant this noob actually play, all he does is sit in cover"

"WHAT! Man this situational douche is fucking hacking too!"

I hate Uncharted 2's community. Everyone that talks complains when I kill them. Constantly.

Although the game has its bad apples(what game doesn't, though?), I'd say that the Diablo 2 community is generally pretty awesome.

There are plenty of people on there willing to lend a helping hand with no expectations of payment.

If there is any personal identification or accountability along with more than a handful sized playerbase with any form of competition, you are going to find people you wish you hadn't found.

Back when people still played L4D on Xbox it was absolutely fantastic, I mean I'd still get the occasional once in a blue moon 13 year old kids team killing for no reason and all that, but most of the time I'd get some really fun people and I've never made as many friends on any other game as I did in L4D.

Blazblue is very friendly as long as you don't act as though you know stuff you don't. A lot of very in-depth advice is freely given too

I vote Heros of Newearth as the friendliest community. Followed closely by League of Legends and Left 4 Dead.

If vs games are allowed to qualify I'd say the Street Fighter 4 crowd are the meanest varmintes hell ever spat forth. Those guys'll try to get on some kind of list and they'll see you on and challenge you to a fight when all you want to do is kick back and watch your Netflix. But no, they hate you so much that you simply must fight right then, right there like it's some kind of anime and when two people see each other only natural to say hello. With your fists.

since COD became so wide spread, halo has a nice community, but i wouldn't say their the best. Battlefields is probably up there since the game forces people to be social and use team work which has the effect of making people more tolerable to others.

If you ignore the retards, hat fanatics and asshats (which aren't so many, they are like 5% of TF2 population, but they are the loudest) TF2 is a good community yes!

Really? I'd imagine that'd be the kind of game where everyone calls you a scrub because you use Ragna...

I just bought the game today with my friend and it's hilarious. We were doing all kinds of shit by accident and our brains were clusterfucked by the end.

On topic: Probably Garrysmod, specifically the servers I play on. Aside from the odd prop-minge, it's got a really nice player base.

I have to disagree. As a female, I cannot enter a server without being bombarded by the same typical questions and chides.

OMG UR A GURL?
DO YOU HAVE BOOBS?
DO YOU LIVE IN NEW YORK?
HOW OFTEN DO YOU WASH YOUR VAGINA?
YOU SOUND LIKE A 13 YEAR OLD BOY
CAN I SEE PICS OF YOUR BOOBS I THINK UR A GUY

The Final Fantasy XI community was very obliging to me, though.
What..?
Do you play on the worst servers you can possibly find?
