There's also that.skips said:Please don't speak for all gamers, only speak for yourself. Clearly, a good number of gamers enjoy the products released by Activision.
No, you could die, its just dying just brought you back from the grave instantly, and it doesn't make it simple, it keeps flow, in super meat boy, you were brought back from death, so you wouldn't have to load from the last checkpoint.funguy2121 said:You forgot to mention Prince of Persia: So Patronizingly Simple You Can't Die.octafish said:Actiwho? I think you mean Ubisoft, I mean they killed Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell, and now they are letting Gearbox destroy Brothers in Arms. I mean they actually put someone who is on the record as saying he hated the Splinter Cell games in charge of Conviction. I'm not even going to start on their DRM. Activision have a lot of catching up to do if they are going to catch up with Ubisoft.
Oh and Ubisoft don't hate their customers they just don't care a tinker's cuss about them and want someone else's customers more.
You fail at analogies too. COD4, COD:WAW, COD:MW2 are still around and still have a playerbase, albeit smaller than in their peak times, so the car analogy fails. New cars for the same series are made every year (Honda Civic 2010, 2011, 2012 etc...)crepesack said:What if car companies purposefully recalled its vintage cars and scrapped them for the metal?? What if food companies threw out their old flavors for new ones?? What if manufacturers of electronic equipment outright stopped producing parts for their older models? I'll tell you what would happen: they'd lose customers and they'd lose money.
COD may be big, but i'm pretty sure their REAL cash cow is WOW. just sayin'. I think it singlehandedly accounts for like 45% of their income, and it just keeps on giving!crepesack said:It was also however, Activision's cash cow, the host from which the parasite fed.
Not to bash on your post, for I agree with you, but... Assassin's Creed II. You need internet access to play... I wonder what will happen after they shut down the servers for that!artanis_neravar said:You obviously don't understand programing, fixing an issue can take a lot of work and time and most people do want a new better game then just having the old one constantly fixed up. Activision cares for it's customers who exercise their speech by spending their money in a way that lets them know what they want. Millions of people buy the new Call of Duty you know what that means? Millions of people want the new Call of Duty.crepesack said:Also I'm not really sure why people are saying activision "cares" for its customers. Does a caring company completely ignore its core fanbase when they request some glitch to be patched? Does a caring company simply piss on any improvements in their older games by releasing a new one before the old one was even fully polished?
Why should we have to wait for the old stuff to be fixed when the new stuff is better in the first place?Someone mentioned that they're keeping their fan base happy by releasing a new title annually. This is the exact naivete I'm directing my argument at. We shouldn't settle for more when the old stuff isn't up to snuff. Additionally I was referring to kids LITERALLY. It's no doubt that the key demographic for call of duty's seasonal return is the ages 12-15. Not the age group the game is "rated" for.
Lets see, Pitch Black 2, Gamer Fuel, Typhoon, Distortion just to name a few. Burger King removed the Loaded Steakhouse Burger, and the Cheesy Tots. Companies discontinue products, it's how life works. On top of that. My analogies DO hold true. Mountain dew doesn't get rid of its old recipe because it comes out with a new flavor. McDonalds doesn't get rid of the big mac because of a new double quarter pounder or some other slop that comes out.
Every game is replayable, in fact I have never played a game that is not replayableGames should be replayable. I don't want to settle for less.
Yeah and people will still be bitching on how much it sucks. Problem? I don't even consider it MW3 its MW 2.5.Cronq said:So....
You gunna be mad when Modern Warfare 3 ends up selling 50 million copies on launch day and becomes the most successful game in history...again?
Time to lose faith in humanity.
Actually you are quite wrong about BF2, they released the 1.5 patch for it, including a new map and the boosters for free. And they patched BC and BC2 whenever they had a problem. As for the good games thing...well MW2 was hardly good. Activison has done no such thing to their games.Pyrokinesis said:..... OK whut? Seriously you act as those activision was killing babies in a ritualistic manner or something. You really beleive that activision is the only one who has left old games to go their way when new titles come out? The same for just about every single console available game out there that has a squeal. (I say console based because PC games have extended life spans over Consoles. Look at how many people still play starcraft 1.)
Hell why blame activision why not blame dice? Battlefield 2 was a great game of its time but it was left to rot when BF2142 came out. Then that was left to rot when Bad company came out, Then that was left to rot when Bad Company 2 came out, and thats going to be left to rot when BF 3 Comes out.
I seriously dont get why your rage is pointed at activision. They sponsor good games alot of the time. Just because any of the COD series served its time honorably and was replaced dosent make them evil hate spewing, money parasites. They dont get money because people dont pay for things you know...
Your rage is seriously misguided if not sadly delusional. I have more than enough reason to beleive that during any of the CODS time to shine they received the utmost of money/time/effort/patches/fixes/updates/tweaks/fansupport that it needed to be more successful than many game series out there that just release a turd and let it sink or swim. (duke nukem). Thats more than enough proof to say that activision cares more about there titles than many other developer teams out there.
Take a look at Team Fortress 2, please. It's still making money, and is today coming out with a free update several orders of magnitude greater than anything the Activision cashcows released for $15.Saltyk said:And how do you expect them to make the money that they would need to continue supporting CoD? And how much would you ***** and moan if they made you pay for that support?
