I would like to play the game, but not enough to buy a new console, or navigate through what is sure to be an scarcity problem... So, I was looking for comparison videos between the Wii U version and the Switch version, to see if the differences between them are so noticeable that I might stomach them or wait for it for the time being... then I found these:

It seems like the differences are not so noticeable, at least if you can spare a 2GB installation on the Wii U. Other than a second here and there during loading, and some framerate problems in one version or another, they are pretty much the same.

I don't know how legitimate these videos are, so has someone else verify these conclusions? I am sure whatever issues Nintendo finds down the line will only be patched on the Switch, but it seems like the Wii U version is more than comparable.

In the case of Zelda, the Portability is basically the benefit. I do believe the Wii U version doesn't have the Frame rate issues but I'm not 100% sure of that though.

haven't even watched the video because i couldn't care less about the graphics comparison to be perfectly honest OP.

For me, the convenience and practicality of something like the Switches portability far outweighs silly little specs details any day of the week.

I'm here to debunk that rumor. The Wii U version has framerate issues, particularly in towns.

Good to know then. I wasn't sure, I thought it was just a switch thing, but Wii U issues make sense as well. It means the problem is the game not the systems.

I consider stable framereate less related to graphics and more to gameplay responsiveness.

It's hard enough to see the difference on compressed YouTube videos but it's even harder when they make the screens smaller.

Breath of the Wild was created and announced for the WiiU originally then ported to the Switch for launch once they decided to retire the WiiU.

They removed any controls unique to the WiiU (the whole Sheikah Plate thing was designed to be used with the gamepad) and didn't include anything to take advantage of the Switch's new features (like HD rumble) so that players of both versions would have the same experience.

WiiU is also getting the future DLC so I don't see why it wouldn't get any other updates.
