I just started driving today for about 20 minutes. for the first 5 i was completely scared and my Dad was yelling at me to do this or that. After about 10 more minutes i finally felt comfortable. He gave me a B as a grade so I'm happy. How was your first driving experience? Did you crash and burn or were you a pro?

I almost flipped the car and took out a mailbox, my dad threw me out of the car. Sound like you had a bit better luck.

The first time I drove was in an empty parking going in circles. It only took me a few times after that to really catch on and I was never really scared when on the road. Also never been in an accident, either.

My first driver's ed lesson went fine, but I had a lot of practice driving when I was 14 without a permit, so I already had some experience.
My first time driving I was 13 and hit my neighbor's mailbox, but he was cool about it and just let me rebuild it instead of calling the police.

My first lesson went fine since the instructor took me in a empty carpark. However my paranoia for crashing the car (this is the result of playing a lot of racing games) it had took me a while until I drive normally (I was driving slow before then).

My first driving experience was when I was 16 (you have to be 17 here to leagally drive) with an ex "teaching me" in an empty car park at around 3am. I put my foot down a bit too hard and nearly crashed into all the trollies.

I'm happy to report 4 years on I'm a legal, safe driver.

I drove a few miles along our crazy country roads, and while trying to navigate a hairpin bend in a dip in the road, with a white van behind me I didn't push the gear the whole way into second, (I was trying to change down a gear to go slower) and put the car into neutral, so we just coasted down the hill towards the bend and I was like AARGH I don't have any experience to know what to do in this situation! but the instructor just put on the breaks and put the car into first gear.

I think the first thing I drove was my jet ski. They let you get a license for that when you're 12 or something. That's way too young, because I just went off being an ass and splash water at other boats and people fishing off of docks.

I first learned to drive in my church's parking lot with my dad in first without really hitting the gas; I was fifteen. The parking lot was pretty small, only fitting about fifty cars at most. There was only one other car in the entire parking lot... Long story short I managed to hit the car... It was the pastor's... She was parked at the end of a line of stalls I just turned the car too tight and clipped the bumper; it didn't leave much more than a smudge mark and she thought it was pretty funny, my dad, not so much. But after nine years of driving I have no major accidents and no speeding tickets.

My first time in control of a car I stalled, as most people did. I pulled away from the kerb, and oddly didn't stall doing so. I have the car moving at, oohh, about 5mph? At which point I panic and slammed on the brakes, without the clutch. Heh, Seems silly now that I've got my own car, but it's not the easiest thing to learn to do :)

My first time driving was actually good. I drive the same way now a days.

Now, my first time driving a tactical vehicle... that was something else.

My first time driving was in an empty carpark area in the countryside, as far away as I could get from endangering anyone (slight overkill). It went fine but then I started having real lessons. I was a terrible learner driver. Only once I passed my test did I become a good driver. This also seemed to be the case for all of my friends, too

I was pretty much a pro...in my head. I had my sister next to me when I was driving for the first time, and I swore I saw her soul come out of her.

Mine was on my first driving lesson. For the first 15 minutes he went through the controls and procedures and I spent the majority of the rest of the lesson driving incredibly carefully.

The first time I shifted into third gear was pretty intense. It was on a road that consisted almost entirely of potholes, cracks and drains.

First experience? I passed the test without ever driving before. (This is in America, I was driving an automatic.)

Then a week later I drove 250 miles in a manual to Lubbock, Texas with my best friend. That was probably the scariest trip of both of our lives.

When I was 12 my old man took me to a big parking lot for trucks and I made a few laps in our old Zastava. It was fun.
