As you've not made it specific I'll give two answers. The first game that I ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on my sisters Megadrive along with such gems as Paperboy and Streets of Rage, I think I was only about four or five at the time. The first game bought for me on the other hand was Pokemon Blue along with a Gameboy Colour. Ahhh that was a magical birthday...

Deus Ex. Suffice it to say, I went through all other shooters wondering why no one wanted to have a nice little chat for a good part of my childhood.

I think it was one of those crappy NES games, like Robin Hood.

But thankfully I don't remember it. I do, however, remember Contra games very well.

I have some games for my old Amiga and also a couple of "Game and Watch". My first real console experience was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

My first console as a kid was the Colecovision, which was the PS3 of its era. Yes, even in 1981 you could be a graphics whore. Anyway, my first game for it was Cosmic Avenger. It was a sidescrolling shoot-em-up. I remember using the left button to drop bombs and being confused as to how to kill the flying enemies...and then I realized the truth: THE OTHER BUTTON FIRES. Seriously, I can't tell you how much it blew my mind that 2 different buttons could do different things at the same time.
