As far as I can remember, it was Super Mario Land for the original Game Boy. Awesomeness incarnate.

I remember the day fondly. Christmas morning opening up a huge present to find a SNES with super mario all stars bundled in with it. And it was even the version that included super mario world.

just wondering what was the first game you ever owned be it either a gift from someone or the first game you ever bought my fist game I owned was kirbys dreamland for the gameboy.

Snap! Only it was a tie between Kirby's Dreamland and Nigel Mansell World Championship Racing, the two games my parents got for me along with the Gameboy they gave me for my 7th birthday.

I still have both the cartridge and the gameboy

My mom refused to let me own any games forever, but all of sudden decided she didn't care and let me play anything. (To be honest, I think it had to do with money issues or something.) First game I can recall was some military shooter on the PC and Pokemon.

Properly owned myself was Command & Conquer. And I loved it, spending hours studying the manual looking for hints or secrets. Building anticipation for units I couldn't access yet like the MLRS, Mammoth Tank and whatever crap Nod was fobbed off with.

Sometimes I miss those simpler days. Not for long, as the future is fucking awesome.
