...did you bother going to the website www.geek-prime.com?

Because that's a piece of fan-art.

http://geek-prime.com/red-ranger-movie-geek-art-fan-fiction/

There is a Power Rangers movie in development for 2016 but that is about all the knowledge anyone anywhere has of this.

...over that? It looks like that crappy Power Rangers parody/re-imagining that was on the internet about a week ago. You know. The one that sucked.

You don't...you don't want Power Rangers to be that, do you? Because that would be awful.

But ANYTHING "power rangers" would probably be awful. I grew up with it and lets be honest here: the source material is just the worst. Honestly though, any attempt at a "dark and gritty" version of it would be at least funny to watch.

I like the poster even it's fan made. I saw the short film that was released, and I thought it was quite bad ass. I was in my late teens when power rangers came out here in the US, and a reboot like the fan made project would be quite welcome by me.

All we're going to get is just opinions in this thread. Some will like it, while other won't.

They made a dark and gritty version of it.

It was bad. Really bad.

...pretty good action scenes, though.

Yeah, I don't know about other people, but I would prefer to keep blood out of Power Rangers. I know that only sparks coming out of people when they are in combat is silly, but i think Powers Rangers should be a little silly.

That image/poster is several years old. You know that right? Your mate is really wrong.

Also for those who keep saying "Power Rangers is for kids and so boring". OF COURSE ITS FOR KIDS!!! You are an adult now. It doesn't appeal to you and doesn't need to appeal to you. Hey, I was a kid that loved Power Rangers and grow up not being interested in it any more because I out grow it. I realised that it just isn't for me and kids will enjoy this. This isnt a My Little Pony thing where adults will work out to defend that it appeals to them too and get upset when someone says its a kids show. Same with wrestling. It's alright even if you like it now just dont get offended when others say its a kids show when it is. Just accept its not meant to appeal to you and its for the kids.

Yeah, fake poster is fake. And as others have said, we don't really need nolan-style rangers. The show's colorful, campy nature was part of its charm. And if you were dead set on downer storylines, look no further than the blue ranger from SPD: that dude had it rough.

While I enjoyed power rangers, the thing I miss the most, especially as an adult, is probably the rita and zed dynamic after they were married. Even my parents enjoyed watching that.

Wait, did they? I watched the TV show but never any of the movies (was there more than one?).

Was the one where Tommy goes sky-surfing the film you're referring to?

(please excuse the lateness of reply)

You're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion is wrong. :p

Dude that parody was fucking insane. I loved the turn coat dude being all "We were children sent out to fight the forces of cosmic evil, so lets not pretend our side was ever better!"

No, there was a 15 minute long short made not too long ago where the machine empire took over the earth (I think), Tommy is a homeless wanderer, and Zach brutally kills a bunch of people in North Korea. It...it had some pretty good fight scenes, and the design of the costumes was interesting, but it was dark. Ridiculously dark. We're talking everyone-ends-up-dead-but-Tommy dead.

EDIT: To clarify, it was a fan-film released online, and I'm to understand that it's difficult to find now.

They also made RPM reasonably dark and gritty, and was a much better Terminator: Salvation than Terminator: Salvation was.

Have you seen Lost Galaxy? That shit was dark. People die. Rangers die, two of 'em. A little kid gets killed. By the bad guys. For no reason.

And that's why I don't like the film. Not because it's dark, but because it's dark and nothing else. It adds nothing to the mythos, and has no intention of adding nothing to the mythos, except that it's dark. It's...the first time I watched it, I thought it was a parody or something. Like...like what if some dumb-ass stuido exec said, "Hey! Let's make this show as violent and 'gritty' as possible! Bring in the 12 to 20 audience. That'll make a quick buck." It...it was just ridiculously shallow. No thought seemed to have been put in it.
