I don't own guns, nor do I intend to, but the first (and hopefully last) firearm I've handled was the 7.62 RK 62 during my military service, and it was more than enough to make me hate it forever. It's basically the AK-47.

OT:

Well, my first gun was a 22 long rifle, pretty generic off the shelf plinking gun that my father gave me to learn to shoot targets, after that my first self bought pistol was a Springfield XDmatch .40 S&W

Then the first shotgun I bought was a Saiga 12 semi automatic shotgun

And just a few weeks ago I bought an AR15 that has been (Legally, but long story) modified to fire full auto before any idiotic govt bans go into effect!
Out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to own a full auto weapon?
Not that I'm some anti gun hippy, if I could own a gun in Britain I would, full auto just seems overkill haha
I work as a professional bodyguard and asset security, so it is a tax write-off for one, and I like to target shoot for two, so it is fun to take out now and then and shoot targets.

There is a lot of skill in putting a single round on target, but there is also a lot of skill in putting 3-10 rounds on target with bursts.

So yeah, they are just fun to shoot, but expensive both to buy, and to keep supplied in ammo, what you would pay for for 3 hours of shooting you can burn through in about 3 minutes if you arent careful.
I can dig it.
I imagine firing on full auto would be a few seconds of pure, unbridled joy hah
Threads like these really make me wish we could own guns over here, going target shooting must be so satifying

But you can legally own a gun in Britain. Fairly easily in fact, contrary to popular belief.

My first two firearms were a Colt Single Action Army and a Winchester 1894 I inherited. I still have them and take good care of them. They're beautiful firearms and pieces of American history.

My two current firearms are a Mossberg 500 and a Colt 1911, and I love them both. 12 gauge is a pain to shoot, but I bought it first, and I doubt I'll ever sell it. My 1911 was made in 2011, so it's got that lovely "100 Years of Service" stamped on the side. That one was my 21st birthday present to myself, and I'm keeping it til the day I die.

Then why bother commenting? At all?

If you have nothing of value to say other than to "imply" an insult, then don't say anything. Not a very hard thing to do.
My opinion is of value. You may get offended if you please, that's beside the point.

Because I am disgusted by your need to put forth your worthless opinions where they aren't wanted, I do not nor will I ever bother taking you seriously again. Good day, sir.
Is it really a bad thing "TacticalAssasin1" doesn't take me seriously again?

I can't own guns any up here.

I can't even carry pepper spray up here unless I carry it under the pretense that I'm protecting myself from roving urban bears.

Your profile says you live in Canada. You can own guns, I live in Canada and own six different ones. Unless there is some other reason you can't own them.

Try firing one, it's a pretty enjoyable experience. I shot a tomato with the .357 magnum I mentioned and a few water bottles.
Yeah, because the whole purpose behind owning a gun has nothing to do with hunting, sport shooting or defending yourself but with how fuckin awsum badazz you feel when you pull that trigger!

I'm struggling to resist the urge to be openly insulting here, but suffice it to say I have no respect for gun owners whatsoever. No, not even if they threaten to fucking shoot me if I don't respect them.

Does that apply to gun owners who have them for the sole purpose of hunting, sport shooting or defending themselves?

(Also, how is shooting tomatos and water bottles any different from sport shooting?)

Interesting. You have no respect for a group of people who own something you don't like, because... having guns hurts people? That can't be true, because if it was, the United States of America would have its population cut down by, what, a sixth, every year, based on gun ownership rates?

Or do you hate 52 million people because every year, less then 10000 people are murdered with firearms, most of which were in the process of illegal activity? Do you really disrespect 52 million people based on what less then 0.019% of the gun population does (Assuming each one of those murders was committed by a unique individual)?

I mean, that's an entirely fine opinion to have. I just want to be clear on what that opinion entails.

I checked my local laws, I was told I can't carry any traditional means of self defense except bear spray.

... oh, I said "can't own". Whups. I mean "can't carry".

I've never had a license nor have I ever owned a gun. But I've fired plenty of them since I joined the army.

In a properly controlled environment, they can be a fun pastime. I've also gone to a few local firing ranges on my free time, had a blast shooting various pistols but never got around to owning one myself.

When it doesn't contribute anything other than to stifle conversation because you don't like the subject, it isn't. Especially since you said practically nothing in that sentence other than a "feel good" passive aggressive insult. An opinion requires content, not a thinly veiled insult in the form of a single sentence. Its a thread derailing, "look at me plz" attitude. No different than the people who think posting "FIRST" is necessary.

It does nothing other than to try to build ego. If you don't like guns, then don't actively go to gun threads to preach about how you don't like guns.

Its no better than the obsessive preacher who goes into gay bars and preaches everyone else is wrong and needs "enlightenment."

Its no better than the obsessive parent who won't stop until everything in media is aimed at kids.

If you don't like it, then why don't you stay away from it? Its a question you have yet to answer.
My opinion of guns is low and I always try to show it by treating it with disgust. And I do not like GUNS, not gun THREADS, which is why I stay away from guns in real life, but in here I use every opportunity to speak lowly of guns. Because that is my opinion of them.

I'll probably never get a gun, to be honest. I don't really give a bother about whether or not I have one.

If I did get one, though, I'd want some kind of bolt-action rifle, preferably World War II era. Not sure why, but I've always liked bolt-action rifles.
