But this is not a thread about if you like guns or not. It's about guns you own. This isn't a blog. No one here asked opinions on whether guns are good or not. If people own guns, like people who this thread was made for, they clearly have already made up their mind and couldn't care less about your opinion. In this case, your opinion really is of no value, just like if I went into a PC building thread and said PS3 was the better choice. A completely useless post that does nothing but rille people up.
It's not useless if I found a use for it, is it?
If the only use you have in it ix to troll gun owners, then no. It's still a useless comment. If you don't like X subject, don't go into threads where people who do like it are talking about it. I'm not sure why people find this concept difficult.

If that's not the most trollish logic ever I don't know what is haha. Sure, you can find a use for it, but honestly, why even bother? If you're not going to defend your position, there really isn't much point in continually messing with people who feel differently than you. If you don't like guns that is fine, but if you're simply popping in just to let us all know with no real reason stated, especially early in the thread...well, that's kinda weak. Seems like you were hoping to start a flame war.

OT: My first gun was a .22 LR which I shot for years. Then I got a Benelli Super Nova in 12 gauge. After that I bought a Savage 30.06 bolt gun for deer season. Lastly as my carry gun I bought a Smith and Wesson M&P in 9mm. I have loved them all and am actively looking for more.

The first gun I have shot was a .22LR pistol, I think it may have been a 1911, not 100% sure on that. Had nearly kickback and was pretty damned accurate. The only downside was that it jammed once every 3 or 4 magazines (which my stepdad who owns it says "It's because it hasn't been fired too often") 400 rounds later it still jams semi-frequently.

That's the gun I qualified with for my concealed carry license. Though if I do carry one I would like something bigger. Probably a .38 revolver. I forget the other guns I fired when I went shooting with my stepdad, but I liked the two bigger handguns that I fired, I think it was .38 and a 9mm.

I tried a few smaller caliber guns, and my hands are big enough that my index finger stretches past the barrel a good inch on some of them. Something tells me that's not a good sign for the gun and I quickly put them back.

I like how everyone is literally hating on the one guy that happens to say he dislikes guns.

Yet I see that kind all the time with console only threads when PC people jump in hating on the consoles in the first place that offer literally nothing of value other than to piss off console users so Johnny Novgorod is not the special shiny exception to want to kick out of the thread when this literally happens a lot on other threads so unless you go to every other thread when this happens and throw down then let the man have his god damned opinion.

I myself dislike guns because they and the person weilding them can kill people and most of the time throughout history they have killed more innocents than they have done any good and there will just never be an equal balanece.

If you want to throwdown over what was said above then you'll be wasting your time since once again it's my own personal opinion and will most likely never change even from being quoted.

With that said back when I was in Army cadets I was given an excercise of using a standard GP rifle with live rounds and dummy ones.

It's this reason, and the awesome restaurants, why I wished I lived in America.

Then I think of the NHS, superior school system, and more mild weather, and I'm back to normal.

Seriously, though. The best I own is an airsoft replica of an M9. It's cool, I like it.

Honestly there wasn't much 'hope' about anything to talk about. My work was done the minute I voiced my mind.

See above. The forum is public and I have voiced my mind. To heed or heed not is your choice.

oh man, I remember this thing. Firing range conditions it jammed almost every third round fired when I was on the range with my squadron for the marksmanship course. I swear the rangemaster spent most of his time unjamming the damn thing. Then again, that was back before H&K got called in to fix the SA80.
My cousin Jack gave it glowing comments when he came back from his first tour in Afghanistan, so someone did something right. personally I prefered the .22 bolt action I was first acquainted with... dunno why, something about the bolt action I guess XD

You guys do realize that every time you quote Johnny Novgorod you're validating his, uhm, participation in this thread, right? He only has as much power over you as you lend him, so maybe stop doing that?

My first gun was an H&R .22 revolver. I'm not sure which model, I can't seem to find one exactly like it online. It looked like a 929 but it didn't have a swing-out cylinder; you pulled the retention pin and it slipped out the side. Otherwise, it looked like this:

Google says that you had an H&R 600-650.

H&R650

H&R623

Hope you didn't have a 623. That thing looks like the barrel might fly off of it for, like, no reason.

The point of the forum is to talk about the subject at hand. If you're not doing that, you're derailing the thread. You can go elsewhere for that

True to it's design it did the same with me too and it wasn't as fun when we went on an exercise and were told to travel 10km from one point to the other without weapons while the recruits were staged with dummy rounds and were shown the ropes by the Scottish military =_=.

In short my team made it in the end near 11pm without getting caught and shot at and were able to get sent back to base with a good nights rest while the one's that didn't make it back were left with sleeping out where they were out in the open =P

Because I am disgusted by guns, I do not own nor will I ever own one. Good day, sirs.
Because I am disgusted by your need to put forth your worthless opinions where they aren't wanted, I do not nor will I ever bother taking you seriously again. Good day, sir.
Let's try to not get this topic locked, please. Don't be so acidic.
Fair point, but I've been growing quite tired very quickly of a growing portion of the once brilliant Escapist community who thinks their opinions are the shit and see themselves as intellectuals who must spread their opinions where they don't add anything (as per the one I quoted) and post several dozen threads asking our opinions on overdone issues such as sexism and racism when everybody knows almost everybody on this increasingly archaic forum is of a moderately liberal tendency. It's getting bloody old.

Just letting off steam here, take no notice of me. Don't ban me, oh nit-picky mods.

(Fuck, I've been meaning to say that for months.)

Rant over.
You said what we have all been thinking (well except the high and mighty intellectuals in question)

glad I didn't have to go through that XDD we did outward bound style courses, a lot of survival stuff too. Tons of navigation as well, those were fun times.

I was curious so I went and dug it out--it was actually a 923.

(not mine)

You were close, though--the integral firing pin did snap off of the hammer and fall out the side of the cylinder well. Still, it served me well enough. My dad bought it for me when I was four or five and it lasted until I was nine or ten, which probably meant 5,000 rounds or so. Not too bad considering I've had worse problems with more expensive guns.

Well, I've only fired the ones my dad own. I won't have a gun until I am living on my own. And the ones he does own, I don't know their model. All I do know is how to clean, maintain, and safely carry and fire. (.308, .30-30, and a 12 gauge if you are wondering. Half my family are hunters including myself)
